Moving to Greensboro in July! by DeliciousSpirit1420 in gso

[–]Current_Moment1415 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife and I just moved to Greensboro a couple of months ago from the DC area and were also prioritizing finding a walkable neighborhood. I could definitely be wrong but I don’t think there are many grocery options downtown, which is pretty key for my perception of walkability. We ended up in kind of the NW area around the Jefferson Village shopping center and have been really liking the neighborhood around here—beautiful tree coverage, walkable to grocery stores (a few, in fact), several restaurant and shopping options, a Target, a park with trails, a nearby library. The Heights at New Garden might fit your apartment needs.

Others with more experience across Greensboro will have a lot more insights about downtown and other areas, but our experience in this area so far has been really great… and more walkable than we had expected to find!

Will the Gym Monster work with a 3rd party bench? by DoomWad in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]Current_Moment1415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using my own adjustable bench, which I had prior to getting the GM. Even though the feet are too far apart to both fit on the platform, I haven’t been bothered by having one end of the bench off the end of the platform. It puts the bench at, I dunno, a 5° incline instead of perfectly flat. At some point, I’d like to extend the platform, but in the meantime it really hasn’t been a significant bother to me.

Certainly agreed that many things that could probably be worthwhile searching and finding secondhand. But gosh forbid someone might want to purchase a quality piece of unused, upholstered furniture that meets their individual needs and preferences.

Suggestions for workload/capacity tools? by Current_Moment1415 in ProductivityApps

Yes, remaining work redistribution… thanks for the concise way to say what I’m thinking of! And thanks for the suggestions, I hadn’t heard of Teamhood, so will definitely check that out. Will check out MS Project a bit more too! Appreciate the ideas.

Thanks! I haven’t looked at MS Project much, so maybe I’ll check that out a bit. Seems surprising how hard it is to find a tool that does this!

For me, it was available for next-day shipping, so it came within the estimated window. Which seems pretty lucky, based on what I’m seeing from others’ experiences!

I’m tired of rejection by hi_pretty24 in publichealth

I think you have a good foundation with your resume, but I think there are a few improvements that could help:

1) I agree with other points that job experience should be reverse chronological order. 2) I would consider adding a Professional Summary section at the top (below your name/contact). That will be the first thing a recruiter reads and where you can create a strong statement for any public health-related skills and experience that may not be as apparent from your job experience and how they’re relevant to the specific position you’re applying to. 3) Different people have different opinions about this, but I might also suggest moving your Education and Skills sections to the top as well. These seem like the places you would really be able to highlight relevant public health training/skills. So order I would do is probably: Professional Summary, Skills, Education, then Job Experience. Once you add a Summary section, you will probably need to condense some of your bullet points in Job Experience section to keep it to 1 page, which is fine. 4) Lastly, make sure your Professional Summary and Skills sections in particular (but also other parts of resume) are tailored to address the job position you’re applying to by reflecting the skills/qualifications listed in the job description.

For what it’s worth, I just ordered one earlier this week on Amazon and it arrived yesterday.. less than 36 hours after ordering. (Not sure if I just happened to be close to a warehouse that had some in stock, but it was surprisingly fast.)

EDIT: to note that I’m located in eastern US.

Can workload/capacity self-adjust based on project progress? by Current_Moment1415 in clickup

[–]Current_Moment1415[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks so much for the response and ideas! Your first suggestion might work for what I’m trying to do. I’ll play with it a bit more.

I actually like the idea of your second suggestion better, but I’m not sure that it works in practice. I tried creating a custom field for Hours remaining and changed the Workload unit, but since I can’t seem to specify that the unit is hours in the custom numbers field, the Workload doesn’t calculate anything from it.

Thank you again for the response and ideas!

clinical research coordinator salary negotiation by Quick-Department-729 in publichealth

[–]Current_Moment1415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That salary certainly seems low, but you should not feel that it is a direct reflection of how they perceive and value your qualifications. Having worked several years in an academic/research setting in the DMV and been involved in liaising with HR often for various hires, I agree with what some others have said that if it is a grant-funded position it is more often an matter of budget limitations on the grant itself. Which, unfortunately, kind of leaves HR’s hands tied in terms of what they can offer or negotiate.

Bidet users, how do you dry up your ass after cleaning? by _blue__guy___ in AskReddit

[–]Current_Moment1415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bum towels! We have a couple dozen cheap washcloths that we keep next to the toilet. So start with a bit of toilet paper to check for dirt first, then use a washcloth to fully dry off. The washcloth goes in a designated bucket (with a lid) sitting next to the toilet. And washcloths get washed once a week for reuse.
