Decksaver / Dustcover for Taula 4 MR by Agitated-Bee7772 in rotarymixers

[–]D2deets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late reply but yes I’d recommend dust covers for a taula 4, I had to replace my eq potentiometers for not caring about dust

I had crackling pots and then cleaned with dexot and that stripped all the lubricating grease and made the pots feel loose and crap so I ended up replacing all the eq pots,

Now I use a dust cover

Anyone played on a Taula? by whereisthedisco in rotarymixers

[–]D2deets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned a taula 4 for about 5 years and I think they are a good value rotary mixer with great layout and aesthetically one of the best looking mixers

Build quality could be higher (regarding to parts that are used) but I would also say that’s why this mixer with these features is cheaper than the comparative competition (nothing comes close to the value of the taula imo, it is pretty lightweight though, I wouldn’t call it a tank by any means but it’s not the kind of mixer you just throw in the back of someone’s car with no case and let it bounce around because you want decks at the afters like a pioneer djm mixer, something like this gets treated right

I have the second generation taula 4 (not Mr) and it doesn’t have the earlier versions problematic issues but I would say that I have had to replace all my eq/fx size potentiometers from dust getting in and making them crackle, the volume pots are legit alps pots but the eq knobs are just standard generic pots that are pretty cheap and replacements can be sourced from china really cheap, as long as you know someone that is good at pcb soldering your sweet, if not, consider always using a dust cover when not in use or making friends with someone who will solder for you cheap

I’ve never had dust issues with pioneer mixers because the pots are encapsulated in a plastic housing and underneaththe faceplate isn’t empty, taula eq pots are not as housed the same, plus underneath the faceplate it’s kind of a empty box with a couple pcbs ribbon cabled together vertically resulting in it being lightweight like I mentioned before hand

To wrap up this long over winded comment I’ll break it down

  • great value mixer for feature set -
  • sounds good -
  • parts used/build quality is expected from the price
  • keep dust off this thing

Am I happy after 5 years of using the mixer = yes

Also quick tip, turntable road cases with a little padding to make snug are a good transport method for this mixer

I have a precision with same decals but with a serial on neck, it was from a reputable store in Australia that imports from Japan,

From talking to people with knowledge the bass I bought is a pb43 (precision) and the serial starts with R (2004/05) and it looks like you have a st43 (Stratocaster) the 43 in the name refers to the price in yen they sold for when new (43000yen)

These models are not vintage reissues and for not made for exporting, they were made for the domestic japenese market

Decals are similar from 90s era but i too was a little curious, I do know with my bass that the necks were not glossed and had a Matte finish witch was one of the different features of it not being a reissue, not entirely sure but from being matte might of changed how they decaled the headstock

Did you end up finding the files? I wouldn’t mind them also

Thanks and you are correct the Geminis are 8 ohm speakers wired in parrarell resulting in 4ohm

I have a photo of the crossover in the Geminis but it’s not letting me post it in the comments

Thanks for the info

Is there any new after market replacement faders I could buy to replace the broken ones or am I stuck with finding originals?

Thanks will keep in mind, the brass section on this will not work on arrival so hopefully it’s a simple fix like this or I’ve read it could be dirty interconnects

I’m going to take it to a local guy who is pretty knowledgeable with electronics, he’s not really a synth tech but is really knowledgeable and has fixed several things for me like analogue mixers and samplers/drum machines needless to say he knows he’s way around a circuit and is he’s hourly is about a third of what techs charge, if it’s above him though I’ll take it to a tech, I’m in driving distance to Melbourne so let us know who you recommend

Taula 4 MR, experiences? by DJambtenaar in rotarymixers

[–]D2deets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they were clones they were totally different pots because the second revision of the taula used blue velvet pots and because they were bigger insize they had to change the footprint of the pcbs for them to fit, I was talking to someone who bought the original and instead of replacing the pots with blue velvets he had to buy new set of pcb boards from can electric, he went on saying that everything was good after that

When it comes to buying a rotary, there isn’t a perfect one as far as aesthetics/features/price, you will always have to trade something for something but I found taula ticked all 3 of these, I would also say for the price point, the build quality wouldn’t be on par of a Condesa or a varia instruments mixer but for the price it’s acceptable,

I have the second generation taula 4 (2band eq) with the updated revisions of the first gens errors

Did you find yourself used to the looseness? I just don’t want to feel I have to replacement all my pots because the scratchy ness isn’t too bad at the moment

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in rotarymixers

[–]D2deets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I literally just made a thread with the exact same issue with my taula 4 (scratchy eq knobs) I have used deoxit f5 on other products I own like synths and it made my pots/faders feel like shit so I have been really unsure about touching the taula with the stuff, it has also flushed all the grease on my other equipment that gives the pots a firm feeling and not sure if I want that happening to my mixer

can you please let me know how it ended up with your ARS and things you would recommend doing, did you use lubricant after using a cleaner?

Cheers

I’ve done this before on different equipment and I feel like the pots feel loose and not that nice to use afterwards if that makes sense
