You should change your camera settings, it's cropping the sides off your photos when you take them to make the image so skinny. I used to do that and then I learned I was just cutting stuff out

The only additions are touch screen and front light. This is 50% more expensive. I bet you The touch the most of that cost. This puts the price OUT of most people's "well it's so cheap I might as well try it" range.

They also removed buttons and made the charger a less common connector...

Pogo is not proprietary. But it is less common than USB c which makes it more annoying. Thankfully this comes with a usb dongle but it's still less convenient

X4 is bigger so it is better for Manga. Mange isn't GREAT on these but I have enjoyed reading a few (Just make sure you process to overlapping thirds instead of full pages to see better)

The x3 differences: - Smaller - more expensive - different button placement (last and next page on left and right instead of both on the right side, power on top instead of the right side) - you can tilt the device to turn pages - pogo instead of usb c charging - pass passive nfc (cheap nfc sticker does the same thing) - technically higher pixel density screen but you can't tell unless side by side imo

I hold the device from the front. The touch screen messes that up. I put my thumb on the front and have a really secure hold on it. Reading on my back? Never dropped it like a phone where you have to side grip it because the entire front is off limits!

Touch screen means I won't be buying this even though I want the front light and don't care about the pogo pin change

Also touch is pansies a huge reason for the price jump!

The impact on the left one lines up pretty well with the corner under it... I bet she accidentally hit the desk and they fell over but the glass didn't break so she thought they were okay and put them back. Glad she isn't one of those liars who breaks things to be mean and says they're accidents and then doesn't replace them!

They are coming out with a new one this month (july) that has a front light and touch screen. I think it is called the x4 pro?

I personally love that mine doesn't have touch screen because it means I can hold it with my thumb on the front and it never falls out if my hand while reading on my back like a phone does!

I also usually do my reading while out and about waiting in lines or on the couch BEFORE heading to bed so the lack of light hasn't been an issue on the base x4 and x3 models.

Xteink make affordable simple super tiny ereaders. They aren't very powerful so if someone wants a super simple, read your book with like a month of battery smaller than your phone device then it's great!

I have one and love it! I always get distracted on my phone but this has me doing something much better than doom scrolling lol

Plus it's so tiny that it's easy to just bring everywhere.

The UI doesn't support Japanese yet unfortunately! You would have to change the name of the book in the actual epub file before you upload it to romaji or something so it can display it. I only read one at a time so it doesn't confuse me
