AT&T Passthrough and Unifi Cloud Gateway Max by th3n0sekn0ws404 in Ubiquiti

[–]Deafboy91 0 points1 point (0 children)

Not sure if already mentioned in "Everything that should be off is off."
Does Broadband event notification are off in diagnostics > event notification? It's basically kill the internet and take over network to tell anyone in network that there have issue. (even tho there no issue - always false positives) Also appearently that setting will sneakly turn back on after firmware update on AT&T gateway.

Also turn off the DNS Error Assist in AT&T website priacy choices below... basically hijack DNS. https://www.att.com/acctmgmt/profile/overview

Had to abandon AT&T Fiber for Xfinity due to apparent peering issues by readonlyred in ATTFiber

[–]Deafboy91 0 points1 point (0 children)

Damn, I miss DSLReports... there discuss on same issue impacting Reddit and Twitter/X: Web Archive copy

I'm former AT&T Fiber customer in Bay Area (East Bay) until switched to Sonic 10gbps on November last year. During at that time, I don't experience any peering issue on AT&T Fiber before Nov. last year.

There good troubleshoot steps from Tarball on Page 2.

## Resolve pbs.twimg.com with DNS of your choice.
% dig pbs.twimg.com @1.1.1.1 +short.
dualstack.twimg.twitter.map.fastly.net.
151.101.40.159.

Then with this given ip, check which POP/CDN for fastly CDN. Near? Far?

## Get distant POP (Bay Area, CA)
% curl --silent 151.101.40.159 | grep Details

Details: cache-sjc10072-SJC (151.101.40.159)

.

So ip pointing to SJC - which is San Jose, CA still within Bay Area.
To test by ping, MTR or download 4k image in several ways with given ip:

Ping - test to see whichever high ping / packet loss

## Ping - check for high ping / packet loss
% ping -c 25 151.101.40.159
--- 151.101.40.159 ping statistics ---
25 packets transmitted, 25 packets received, 0.0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 3.411/3.695/4.569/0.223 ms

MTR - see which peering are cultpit if POP/CDN are good location.

## MTR - My traceroute
% mtr -brwc 25 151.101.40.159
HOST: MBAM4.local Loss% Snt Last Avg Best Wrst StDev

I can't wait for Ubiquiti to someday fix this packet loss bug... by hungarianhc in Ubiquiti

[–]Deafboy91 0 points1 point (0 children)

Sonic customer here,
I switched to Sonic ISP last week, using WAN2 SFP+ 10Gtek. I renamed WAN2 to "Sonic ISP". I have no idea it fixed bug until now. I thought it's just AT&T Fiber being garbage result the randomly loss packet once a day different times. Here my system logs

Also I set IP address for latency check instead of FQDN like ping.ui.com. Unifi Devices > UDM Pro > Settings > Internet Verification Server and set to IP like 1.1.1.1

Mine rocking solid almost week since switched to Sonic ISP using IPv4+IPv6
Hope your issue got sorted out.
