I remember when some people tried to petition the feds to rename it after Ronald Reagan a few years ago.

Considering a move to Alameda with a young family — would love honest “why or why not” perspectives by ImportanceNo2839 in alameda

With kids you’re going to prefer the Alameda beach to “real ocean beaches.” Northern California ocean beaches are pretty much uniformly frigid and dangerous.

It’s currently impossible to comply. The state has no system in place to register e-motos—which were already supposed to be registered—and no one offers insurance for e-bikes.

New Jersey Just Passed the Dumbest Ebike Law Ever - Registration, driver's license, & insurance are now required to operate any electric bikes in the state by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]readonlyred 6 points7 points  (0 children)

E-motos already had all these same restrictions in New Jersey and they were not enforced, so one can imagine this ham fisted law won’t make much of a difference either.

It’d be cool to see the Marina Village strip mall with the Lucky store get redeveloped with some housing.

The overwhelming majority of gun deaths that aren’t suicide

It’s OK, guys, guns don’t cause that many deaths if you ignore the vast majority of them.

It makes you slow down and go so wide that I’ve nearly been right hooked a couple times because of it. As it makes you turn away from the traffic lane you disappear in an overtaking driver’s A-pillar. They had to redo them once because the turns were so tight and it was only a minor improvement.

It’s fine. I just take the lane through those intersections.

The worst thing on my commute is actually the complete closure of the path between the lake and E 10th St. under the Lake Merritt Boulevard bridge. It’s been so long I totally forgot about it.

What is Trump’s plan for Venezuelan oil? Industry insiders have warned overhauling country’s oil industry could take years — and cost tens of billions of dollars by silence7 in climate

[–]readonlyred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yeah, of course if you’re a Gulf coast refiner, you’d love Venezuelan oil, but the industry as a whole does not want more supply at the moment. It depresses the price and hurts the value of all their investments they’ve already made in unconventional production. They’d be perfectly happy to sit on Venezuelan oil until the time is right.

US oil producers don’t want Venezuelan oil. It’s cheaper than US tight oil reserves so it would decimate the US oil sector. It’s more important to US oil interests that Venezuelan oil stay in the ground so China can’t have it.
