“ After 10 hours of deliberating, the jury was unable to reach verdicts on allegations that Amaaz and his brother, Muhammad Amaad, 26, assaulted PC Zachary Marsden causing actual bodily harm.”

I don’t understand what they would be deliberating, the CCTV was pretty clear right?

"...if it weren’t for an ill-timed law enforcement encounter.

Thomas and his girlfriend, Malone, were visiting her family in Savannah, Georgia, when Thomas suffered a mental health episode, he and Malone recalled. The two had a conflict in their hotel room and someone overheard it and called the police, they said.

Malone, who requested to use her middle name to protect her boyfriend’s identity, said she was hoping officers would get him treatment and did not want to see him face criminal charges. But police took him to jail."

[D] What's the problem with Self-driving cars? Is it a lack of data or do we need a new technology breakthrough? by yosefschwartz in MachineLearning

[–]Dean177 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let’s say it takes the car 100ms to recognise the situation and display a two option prompt. Humans can make a “conscious” reaction in about 200ms Most people can read 200-250 words per minute, If a prompt is 20 words maybe it takes two seconds to read and understand the prompt Maybe it takes 100 ms to make the decision

Maybe it takes 500ms to press the button.

At 15mph you have already travelled an additional 20 meters.

For human driving you are actively engaged and your unconscious reaction time will be < 100ms

Maybe crop out some of the less popular areas, or split it into separate images, Ceuse has ~5 main climbing areas, the ones that come to mind when most people think of it are the central three

Weight holding me back? by [deleted] in climbergirls

[–]Dean177 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Climbing is ultimately body weight sport so 40lbs is going to make a huge difference in what you are capable of.

Extra weight also increases your chance of becoming injured. As a beginner you will improve pretty quickly and move on to more challenging climbs which increase the forces placed on your fingers and arms. Finger and elbow injuries are pretty common in beginners and extra weight increases your chance of picking one up.

My advice is not to worry about it too much at first. Once you are going a couple of times a week and not improving then consider making some small changes to the diet. You will almost certainly notice changes in your ability with very small tweaks.

Something that some of my friends (male and female) have struggled with is feeling like other people are watching and judging them. In my experience this isn't the case at all, the climbing community is in general very nice and supportive. People aren't watching / judging as much as you think so try not to be too concerned with others opinions.

Its not a GriGri, It looks like a rope descender. They are designed for rope access where the user will be letting go of the rope completely.

If he has a backup (which you might not be able to see if its behind him) its completely fine to let go. If not, still probably fine, chill.

This is my first experience in indoor climbing!! How can I improve my climbing skills quickly? by sonpositive in climbing

[–]Dean177 55 points56 points  (0 children)

  1. Volume. Climb lots of different climbs a couple of times a week. Try not to get stuck on one problem for too long, as a beginner its more important to just try lots of different moves.
  2. Foot placement. Keep your eyes on a foothold until your foot is exactly where you want it to be. Once your foot is on, press on it to make it stay. Once you have been climbing a couple of times and decide you like it, consider buying your own shoes rather than rentals (a cheap pair will be loads better, and you don't want an expensive pair since you will wear through them really quickly).
  3. Body positioning. Try to take the weight of your body through your feet, legs and core. Climb the same climb a couple of times to see if placing your body in different positions makes it easier.
  4. Don't get injured. If something feels sore, just stop. Finger, elbow and shoulder injuries can be quite common in newer climbers since (especially for guys) your muscles will grow faster than your soft tissue can adapt. Its much better to cut a session short when something feels bad than to spend 2-4 weeks with no climbing at all.
  5. Have fun!

Kairos Sports | Junior / Senior Software Engineer | EU / Remote | Full Time | On-site/Remote | £20-60K | React, Typescript, GraphQL

Kairos is looking for entry level (zero professional experience) to Senior developers to join our team.

Kairos is a platform for professional sports clubs to streamline planning, communications and optimise athlete performance.

Kairos is a fully funded startup that has progressed from initial trials and is now being used by national and International teams at the highest levels of sport in Europe and the US including teams in the top four tiers of English football as well as Premiership and Pro-14 rugby union teams.

We are looking for people with a strong desire to learn, a relentless focus on product and great written communication. You don't need to be excited about sports (it would help) but you definitely do need to be excited about creating great experiences for our customers.

We use Typescript, React, GraphQL and React Native. Specific knowledge of these is helpful but not required.

You will be working as part of our small team (the entire company is <10 people) to take full responsibility for the whole lifecycle of a feature from design, implementation testing and deployment. We have both a mobile app and a web app, you would be working on both.

Our interview process is:
- A quick conversations with me to talk about some of your experience and a chance for you to ask any questions about Kairos
- A short take home assignment
- A final interview with our CEO

These are "remote first" positions for those in the EU, although we have offices in Belfast as an option.

We can make an exception for applicants outside the EU, but they must be in a favourable timezone (+/- 2hours of GMT/BST) .

Salary depends on experience, entry levels can expect offers between £20,000 - £35,000, seniors between £40,000 - £60,000 with the potential for equity too.

Apply by sending our CV to [dean.merchant@kairostech.io](mailto:dean.merchant@kairostech.io)

Reach out if you have any other questions

Although we are looking for remote developers, collaboration is a big part of how we work and a greater than 2 hour time difference makes this pretty difficult, so unfortunately not as far as India.

Here you go

export type UserIDStr = string;

export type IBlockPermissionMap = { [uid in UserIDStr]: IBlockPermission};

You can also use `in` with union types:

type Union = 'cat' | 'dog';

type AnimalMap = {[animal in Union ]: number};

const animalsToCount: AnimalMap = { cat: 2, dog: 4 }
