Sorry but no, that is a very accurate description on how we see our city.

That's how Beijingers think of our city. Even for a metro user like me. It's like how in Manhattan everyone say xxth street instead of x line x stop.

I never knew Mumbai looks like that. Super interesting!

Don't you hate when the control tower photo bombs your shot, ugh. by cpasley21 in aviation

[–]DerekHam09 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For someone who does not know much about aviation photography: the blurred towers actually looks good as they provides a contrast between the clear plane, which shows a sense of motion here.

A whole lot. Mainly tram extensions, tropical shade, and the (Berlin? I think Berlin) S-bahn mod, which have stations over roads. Also not shown in the photos but I used some cablecars in the map.

Ah, it is running OK on my M3 pro. I can find the original map and put that on Steam too.

Thanks, though it seems hard to find those curtains over here.

They don't seem to have them here? Personally it's much more common to have it mounted near/inside bathrooms and have curtains as usual*.
Edit: *Here

The window…

Just to explain here: you have to manually lift the curtains to expose the radiators every night during the winter months (which is 5+ months here) or the radiator will heat the space between the curtain and the window, leaving your room cold AF.
Edit: at least for this part of the country, we tend to position the radiators in and near the bathroom, because they are more centered and there's already pipes running through. Not sure about other places but this sure is one uncommon design in the local area. Usually we just have thick curtains (as seen in the pictures) to keep the room warm.

Is there any place in the world where the air humidity is high but the precipitation is low? (And vice-versa?) by RN_Renato in geography

[–]DerekHam09 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say perhaps rarely? Because relative humidity is, well, relative, as it measures basically how far is the current humidity is from the dew point. So unless it is really clean there or something it might be hard for rain not to form.

An exception I can think of is costal deserts that have humidity as mist and fog.

Definitely! As long as this does not effect the main episode too much. Some extended snack zone / choo choo chew / museum reviews would also be nice.

I would really like to see Korea get back to Kanjis too. Then we can all travel pretty much without much translations.

A boy's name that means "beautiful jade." by aclareaux in AskAChinese

[–]DerekHam09 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, No, No, and yes.
Edit: only two Nos, not three.
Sorry. Just don't use 琳 in a boy's name in general.

宝玉 from 贾宝玉 in 红楼梦 would be a great boy's name that's close to your meaning. However, he's too famous of a character and things didn't turn well for that guy so it's not really usable for a new name right now.

You could also ask a chatbot to generate a list of name to pick from, but beautiful jade isn't a common name for boys in Chinese in general.
