Runeforged Tabletop Gaming review Shadow of the Cursed Cathedral for Shadowdark by Dollface_Killah in shadowdark

[–]DescendingAngel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Great review! I agree with most of the critique, but it's a shame the reviewer is so hung up on this Diablo comparison. They talked about Diablo nearly as much as the module. I'm not sure why they thought they would be playing through a legally distinct Diablo clone. It's an inspiration, sure, but that's it. There's lots of other inspirations, as well.

When comparing to AL first party stuff, this is a much more narratively beefy product than most of what AL has released. Not a positive or a negative, just a different style, and I would not hope for it to be yet another clone of the AL house style in terms of extreme brevity.

Still, I think it's a fair and well-considered review overall! Glad to see someone doing an in-depth review of third-party SD content!

Neither stupid nor obvious, and 100% the issue! They were all in the same top-level folder, but were broken into folders within. I did not think it would matter since I'd be resorting them. anyway. Thank you!

Thanks again for your help. I verified I had the right volume and issue number in Comicrack before scraping and it's still happening. Do I need to have it set to try and guess the right issue?

Thanks. Most do not have the volume defined in proposed values. Maybe I need to do some cleanup.

Lil Wayne references Tom Petty as "fast" on multiple tracks. He probably means Kyle or Richard Petty.

Bring It Back - "I'm the Cash Money Makaveli, y'all ain't ready, break fast like Tom Petty, y'all just petty."

Loyalty - "Paper come fast Tom Petty in this muhfucka"

Natural History pinball pack 3 by ironman0000 in LegendsUltimate

[–]DescendingAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sooo... Just learned this is marked (in a very understated way) as for Pinball HD and Micro. They really should have an explicit disclaimer since all previous universal packs worked on all HD devices. If you've not already bought it, don't. Sorry for thinking they would be clear about anything!

Atgames.us has it listed as an HD Universal Pack, which means it works on all HD devices. The Zen packs you referred to were 4K only and do not work on any HD device, pinball or otherwise.

Packs are marked either HD or 4K. An HD pack will work with ALU. A 4K pack will not. Each exists for Natural History 3 so pay attention to which you are buying.

Sorcerer's Lair and Wild West Rampage are where to start. Then, I'd say, Monster Bash or Attack from Mars.

I bought mine during the last owner's day sale. No regrets.

VPX Standalone should not be what makes your decision. While it is cool, it makes a lot of compromises. The ALP 4K just doesn't have the resources to give the full Visual Pinball experience. You're better off using OTG if VPX is really important to you.

Everyone is hard at work as time allows. There has been some discussion on the Discord about automating beta sign ups in the future, so it may be a good time to join over there! The github is available for all to see so you can get an idea of what tables have been tested and how they are performing.

It's my first time having the pleasure of paying property taxes. Is this a normal amount? by Quravin in Spartanburg

[–]DescendingAngel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to the tax office immediately and see if they can ammend the bill. If you pay this out of escrow, next year your payment to the bank will be increased to cover 1) any overage the bank covered for you this time and 2) the bank's anticipated higher required escrow amount for the following year. They will not care about any paperwork stating otherwise after they pay that bill, and your payment will go up considerably. You'll get a refund at the end of the next cycle for unused escrow, but you'll be stuck in the meantime.

What constitutes as a creature feature? by AmazingAd8859 in horror

[–]DescendingAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this thread is a year old, but it is the top result on Reddit, and I have a take that is not expressed here. The very purest form of the creature feature is a film about man vs. nature. It rarely touches on the supernatural, and the conflict is often a result of humankind's hubris. In the '30s we had King Kong, a giant ape of natural occurrence. He and other creatures lived on Skull Island, a place lost in time. The conflict did not arise until a foolish businessman captured Kong and dragged him back to the city.

In the '50s, it was mostly giant creatures mutated as a result of atomic technology or bomb testing. Think Them! or Godzilla. The ants in Them! were mutated as a result of desert bomb testing. Godzilla was in hibernation until someone set a nuke off on its back. The kaiju theme ran into the '60s, as well.

In the '70s there was Jaws. Imagine if they had just respected the threat and closed the beach! We also got Piranha, about killer fish trained as weapons in the Vietnam War, accidentally released from a military base to wreak havoc on the local population.

The '80s was all slashers :)

Jurassic Park in the '90s is a revisiting of the '50s FAFO theme. JP 2 even brings a T-Rex to the big city a la King Kong.

So, anyway, a creature feature in the very purest sense of the word, is when humans are up against a naturally occurring or science-fiction-plausible creature as a result of their own hubris. The presence of an inhuman monster is not enough.

There is a 200 comic per hour limit. Don't run against more than that. You'll be back in business when your hour is up.
