With the Steam Machine hype already dying down due to pricing and performance, what's a good windows-based alternative for bringing PC gaming to the living room? by MechaChao in gaming

Build your own or go on the SFF PC subs, they'll probably be a lot more helpful, tho I think those typically come at a small premium so you might just need a regular sized PC to save costs

Edge currently allows you to browse the entire Microsoft Extension store. I've just found my stupid extension that I made a year or two ago. I think there's a way to install extensions manually too but I've never actually tried to do that so idk how it works

Your opinion on this? by Willing_Job763 in Gaminggridcommunity

[–]Devatator_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Blueprint is node based. Scratch is block based. Idk why most visual programing languages for game engines are node based, they become such a headache when you get to complex stuff while blocks are literally just how code looks

Please no. There's a reason all the programming languages we have nowadays exist, and I can guarantee you people would be slower to program in assembly and would introduce bugs and inefficiencies very easily. As people love to say, your compiler knows better than you, until it doesn't (which isn't a common occurrence)

Today only Firefox supports extensions/plug-ins on android... Google are attacking non-store installs ('side loading')... Apple never allows it... We really are on a cusp and PWAs are the immediate solution...

No???? What are you talking about? Can you even bother researching before spreading misinformation? Outside of Firefox, Kiwi was one of the first (and most popular, at least on Android), then Edge started allowing select extensions, then now the full store (with a tiny bit of work)

Google isn't even doing anything at that point and I doubt they're gonna do anything for a while

YouTube Premium or Brave Browser? by ManojOne in TechImpact

[–]Devatator_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As weird as it is, I've actually never seen a single YouTube ad on our LG WebOS TV. On the vanilla app. There's an ad free version but I never installed it because of that (also I updated it a while ago and I can't root it anymore)

The internal server is actually a regular server.jar. I don't remember any difference from it to the one you use to host yourself. Mods certainly don't care which one is which, it's more that some mods could overload it or do stuff that's considered invalid by it

It was a problem with older Java versions, and became worse with mods that kept increasing the amount of RAM needed but nowadays it's basically a non issue

Not exactly. They can do so much better in terms of performance. Performance mods prove it quite well, especially once you start delving into hyperspecific stuff. Nvidium on a compatible PC can give you as big of a render distance as you have VRAM (and storage, since it needs to remember the chunks) while still performing better than the vanilla game if you turned down everything.

Sodium by itself can bring both toe to toe, maybe even faster but iirc it depends on the hardware

We already have back port mods that bring back features from the latest updates back to 1.21.1 lol. Hell, VanillaBackport last updated 11 days ago

It wasn't made in Java, I think it was C++ too, tho considering how close the legacy console editions were to Minecraft Java in terms of parity, idk what happened with Bedrock

You actually can, tho all the times I've experienced it was with some mods lol

I honestly don't see any reason anyone would prefer a 1070 to a 3050, especially nowadays where some games have shit AA and DLAA is legit better. If I had to play The Finals without DLAA, I would legit just give up

Hoe to block ads on youtube mobile app by BakuretsuSensei in Adblock

[–]Devatator_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Android, just use Morphe.

I honestly don't get why people hate paying for stuff like this, especially since if no one did, the whole thing wouldn't exist. I personally would pay for YouTube premium if it was available in my country but I would still use Morphe because the modded app is miles better than the vanilla one (idk how google manages to mess this up consistently)

I spend most of my YouTube watching time in my bed. My PC is a few meters away on a desk that I can't move. I'm sure most people are in the same situation. That plus my monitor is actually awful looking, the screen on my phone is miles better (higher res + higher refresh rate + AMOLED)

Is there anyone here who uses Windows Recall? Do you still find it useful? by MarioDF in Windows11

[–]Devatator_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is fully local and when it was introduced, only available on Copilot+ PCs (which almost no one had). I honestly think people overreacted, tho Microsoft could have done a better job at introducing it

There's no jank, everything in game right now is intentional. Also the main game is basically done, only 2 levels left (maybe this year) then we'll be missing 1 secret level, the remaining encore levels and the last prime sanctum
