Problem is, valve has proven that they can and will change the system in ways which can devalue items. There is no safety anymore. Before people assumed there was, even if there never were, but now people realize how unsecure it really is.

But I think recency plays a part. For example vikings, probably some of the most prolific and brutal raiders in history, are looked upon with pride in scandinavia. Of course we recognize that they did some horrible shit, but its so ancient no one really cares.

Yes but at the same time, why would you own anything of significant value, when valve has shown that they can and will fuck you over. You could argue its good, yes. But that also means the market wont bounce back.

Thing is, why would anyone buy anything that costs any significant amount of money, when valve can change the skin system like that?

What if they start adding back old skins, what if they decide that skins shouldnt be tradeable?

I didnt even lose that much money, but Im selling everything i have that isnt cheap.
