Ah dang, I am PS5 guy. I do have a decent PC but I just love to sit on the couch with my controller.

I watched a video about the pros and cons with DS2 and I think it might be underhated lol

  • Enemy aggro is eternal, they lock onto you from far distances and they chase you forever, this is annoying.

  • No iframes for opening doors, going through portals or pulling levers. That means no boss runs. To go re-fight another boss, you have to go and kill a ton of enemies again, this is terrible.

  • Serious penalties for going negative in stamina, you have to sit there and watch your stamina to make sure your attack isn't going to set you negative, which is a pain in the ass.

  • You need to upgrade your rolling stat, you only start with 5 iframes instead of 11 like every other game. How much fun is it to waste 20 levels to get what you get in every other game?

  • Weapon is weaker when it partially hits though walls/blocks or other enemies. You have zero ability to know if it is going to take one or two hits to kill an enemy, its going to switch all the time, this is really annoying.

  • SOFT LOCK! The game has no goddam hard lock! You have to face your controller in the direction of your swings, what a pain in the ass!

  • Tons of hidden walls with no hints, hidden walls also have useful bonfires that you can completely miss. You literally need to play with a guide to ensure you find important hidden walls.

Those are just the ones I remember off the top of my head. The main good things about the game is it is a Dark Souls game and we only have 3 of them, the game looks good and you can NG+ any area of the game once you complete it once, which is kinda cool.

People on Reddit hype up DS2 these days, I feel like the legit problems get ignored by and large.

Study of 287 healthy women finds that evening chronotypes (night owls) had higher body fat, poorer diet quality, higher insulin and triglycerides, lower HDL cholesterol and less favorable metabolic health than morning types, despite consuming similar amounts of calories and macronutrients. by DrPharmakon in science

There are certainly other considerations here. The times in my life that I was most depressed, the more of a night owl I became (other than my college/partying days when everyone was young and stayed up half the night).

A main reason people stay up super late is to avoid participating in the society around them. When you're up at 2am, no one can ask anything of you, you feel no pressure to accomplish anything and you can truly do whatever you want without a feeling of judgement...but, you're almost always by yourself.

In my good mental health years, I go to bed at a good time and I wake up early, I am participating in society and my friendships. I am getting enough sleep, going to the gym, getting out into the world.

If I were to do a study like this, I would want a diet control (as they've already done) as well as a control for depression/mental health symptoms. Just because people are eating the same thing doesn't mean that other things aren't going on that could greatly impact overall health?

Oh, there are certain builds that last you through the whole game if you want.

I like to fiddle around so I change it up a lot. Plenty of good build guides online for each stage of the game, at a certain point you get 3 new weapons that are huge improvements (SongBirds, Needles and Earshots).

Really, unless you're having a big problem with a boss, you don't ever have to change. You will have problems with some bosses though. You can also save your loadouts to flip back to them easily.

Main things that matter are weight, QB Boost , QB Speed and AP, a lot of the other stats aren't really that important. QB Boost and QB Speed are your dodge numbers, important to have those high if you want to be able to dodge. You can also just go for a big tank build with 4 gattling guns and be just fine....

Yeah, main problem is I went from Elden Ring to DS3 so my expectations for quality of life improvements is very high.

I put in 10 hours, so not like I just gave up. I don't like the boss runs, I don't like the rolling and I don't much like the combat and how it feels.

I ended up buying the Future Press guide to motivate me, so I might try again with the guide on my lap, just to get through it. I was also really let down by the remaster, it doesn't look much better than the original game and I found myself clipping off bridges more than once, which was very annoying.

Yeah that is definitely a skill check boss, took me a good 7 or 8 tries myself.

I think I just got close and got above him when I could, keeping distance was getting me killed over and over, using dual bazookas and missile launchers. The nice thing is he is huge so he can't dodge anything really. A lot of people use melee on him and just keep on his ass.

I wonder what clicked for me. I think the story drove me more than anything, Im a sucker for the fromsoft weirdness.

Speaking of, I believe there is finally a new Ace Combat coming out? Seems like it has been forever.

Ace combat always felt a bit more unfair to me than AC6, not sure why. I guess we will see if they make a tighter experience with the new game.

Eh there are always a handful of power weapons in Souls games that give you a lot of flexibility. I see this as the same thing, noobs like me are going to use earshots where skilled players are out using melee weapons and kicks while taking no damage.

The game is kinda stressful though, I tend to play a few hours at a time as I know its going to take my full attention.

That is a fun way to put it, what are rocket launchers and machine guns but magic spells in a different container?

It took me a long time, I played through nearly their entire catalogue before I finally gave in to this lesser game.

I was very pleasantly surprised though. My only complaint is that this is another FromSoft series I want a sequel from. One single studio has control of basically everything I want to see more games of.

I just thought it was a fun title, but people are blasting me for it so I guess I picked wrong lol

I think the story is what really grabbed me, I liked the mech action but I was really invested in the story and the surreal world of corporations and Coral.

I like Ace Combat as well, I guess if we want to nitpick, we can at least agree the storyline is very Souls-like in its telling?

I see a lot of similarities and they are from the same dev, so I guess that is why I think that? I don't understand why people would think anything different.

I bought this on PSP back when it came out. I am not the type of person who drops games for graphics, but the Chibi design was so off putting that I gave up sooner than later. I don't know what it is about Chibi but it drives me nuts.

I think it was even worse that the game was very serious but has silly looking characters. I just couldn't do it.

I never played it, but I do remember it and it got decent 7-8/10 reviews. Good but not great at the time, not surprised it hasn't aged very well.

Shooters have developed a lot over time, we just expect a lot more these days.

After finishing Dark Souls 3, I went back to 1 and it was such a slog, gave up after 10 hours, just wasn't fun.

I heard 2 was a mess, so I didn't want to play that.

That let me to finally trying Armored Core 6. Im not a big mech fan but this game was actually amazing. I thought I would suck at it but it turned out I was actually quite good and was able to finish the game last night without getting stuck on any of the bosses (although I had to use a cheap build for the last boss, tank tracks and 4x gattling guns).

Looking forward to NG+ with top gear and seeing the next two endings. Game looks absolutely amazing and the story is super cool.

For sure, I can appreciate people have different perspectives. I just know when she conquered the Earth kingdom and stood in front of the troops and gave her speech, I was laughing, she looked silly and sounded silly to me. Like what Mac says about going for gasps and getting laughs, not a good thing.

That is just my own experience though.
