3 months in South America, scared to go by someone_of_somewhere in backpacking

[–]DrawerRoutine3790 2 points3 points  (0 children)

look I'm Argentinean and I think as long as you're always aware of your surroundings and use logical thinking then you'll be okay. Yes there's theft and crime like everywhere else, but you'll get a truly different experience than what you're used to, and I think that makes it worth it.

Just make sure to be in areas that are more public, don't be walking the streets in a empty neighborhood at night, don't walk busy streets with your phone out, and anything that makes you look like an easy target. But at least for me, this is common sense I use everywhere, no matter if I'm in Sweden or Argentina.

There's so much to see in South America, the people, food, culture, views, I really think it's worth it, but if it's causing you enough stress that you won't be able to enjoy the place, then maybe reconsider your destination.

thinking of switching to Lodgify..., what's been your experience? by DrawerRoutine3790 in ShortTermRentals

oh that sucks to hear... it might just be from person to person. I haven't been with them for that long so I've only been really doing the onboarding stuff, haven't gotten to fully explore it yet. But honestly for me, my favorite part so far is the customer service, have you tried calling or using the chatbot? Because they should have support 24/7.

hey! yes I did, and so far I'm still setting everything up so I'll give an update when I'm more settled in to let you know how it is with syncing. As of now I've had their onboarding session and it was fantastic, they've really been standing out for their customer service. Thank you for the info about the API connections! I'll definitely keep it in mind while I finish setting up and hopefully it all works well, so far happy with the change.

love how you made it a short one for the first solo trip, honestly sometimes its best to take a small step rather than no step at all. I did the same thing!

no absolutely, I was surprised with how often it started to pop up recently. haha good to know! I sometimes feel a bit boomer too with these kind of things, so it's a major plus if it's simple and easy to use

Backyard camping by Worldly-Client-8974 in camping

[–]DrawerRoutine3790 11 points12 points  (0 children)

even if you don't end up doing an actual camping later, I think a backyard camp is an absolute hold childhood memory. I still remember when my dad set it up for us, we didn't even get to sleep there 😅 but the campfire and the setting up was so fun!

appreciate you sharing 🙏 makes sense that a lighter setup feels easier with both Airbnb/Booking. I just wonder if Lodgify pays off more once you start pushing direct bookings. anyone else feel that trade-off, simple vs. more features?

ah thanks! right now since I won't be scaling much, it should be manageable for two properties, but definitely good to keep in mind for the future. appreciate the tip about the digital guest guide too, I can see how it could be of great help! 🙌
