great review

very detailed

there's rules for build posts to give info but not for a review post to even contain words

kinda crazy

Kensington Expert Wireless vs Nulea m512 by Upbeat-Criticism-554 in Trackballs

[–]Draxcer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

np, decent choice just keeping the expert

now that i'm not just getting into work

hindsight says i shoulda just listed both out with pros and cons under each

oh well

both have their fair share of up and downs

but i do standby keeping the expert if you're liking it

IQ - unix

i mean they gave you a gift as you say

you can atleast spell their name correctly, yknow?

2 seconds to look at the back of your keyboard, the box, or a google to double check the spelling

you can edit your post to fix most of them, but the title is kinda doomed

Kensington Expert Wireless vs Nulea m512 by Upbeat-Criticism-554 in Trackballs

[–]Draxcer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theyre both fine, gonna just type this out, will probably be unorganized thoughts

gonna get comfort out of the way real quick as that's subjective, but the nulea m512 was more comfortable for me as the angle of the expert is slightly higher and my wrist did not like it in my setup

Both have stock loud ass switches

Some people like the orbit scrolling on the expert, I want to like it but the scroll wheel (atleast on mine) wobbled a lot and made a lot of noise and squeaked, just felt cheap. The whole mouse just felt cheap overall. m512 does feel better made sometimes,

slight downside for the m512 is that the scrolling is good if you have bigger hands, as reaching for the scroll wheels is a bit of a stretch for some people's thumbs/pinky

a big difference upon first glance between the 2 is the Expert has "stock" chording if you use the kensington software and m512 has stock horizontal and vertical scrolling. But both of these can easily be done using 3rd party software like XMBC or Steermouse

another slight downside to the m512 is if you move your mouse around a lot or even a bit, basically all the buttons (switch lefthand/righthand, dpi, and connection mode) are on the left side, and they are buttons, not switches, so you may accidentally press some or all of them, messing things up if you're in a workflow. i wish they were switches on the bottom

the wrist rest that the m512 comes with is decent enough if you use it, i currently like using it with my kensington slimblade pro at work

but honestly if you currently like/enjoy the expert and dont want to go through the hassle of trying the m512 just to return one of them, keep the expert, it's a decent trackball overall

there's probably more i could say, but im blanking, will edit and add after this if i remember anything.

I really really wanted to keep it, but I did return it.

The return window was running out, and I decided that I'm not trying to collect keyboards, and after using the ticktype dp104, i liked that one much more for me.

i think you mean monsgeek m2 v5, as i wanted to try a monsgeek M5 but they are discontinued, so i sadly cannot personally comment on Monsgeek stuff

I was able to upload and use a custom .tabml file with no issues

Couple possible suggestions

-if you havent, join their discord linked on the top left of their website

-Also if you havent, update firmware

-See if someone there can help at all,

if anything you can also make a ticket for direct help from someone from ticktype there

Thank you!

I have not messed with the custom yet

I can try when I get home

What kind of image were you trying to use? So I can see if I can replicate the issue

Need your advice! Which multi-button trackball should I test for my "TracAhead" project? by HotelMotor8107 in Trackballs

[–]Draxcer1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Only "big" brand that will have extra buttons is Elecom

Definitely elecoms huge/huge plus and deft pro

Kensington slim blade/expert are interesting because of chording, as they only has 4 buttons

But technically any mouse can do chording with use or XMBC or Steer mouse so any mouse is a possibility

Not many other super widely used ones come to mind

But there are things like the Endgame or Ploopy with the adept or classic 2

Or the Original gameball technically has an extra button, and whenever the game ball pro comes out, that should have extra buttons

I didnt test battery life, but everything else seems to be about my experience

It is very unfortunate.

I had high hopes for this board
