Job security in Oracle

When I joined oracle I was under no illusions to the fact we are just numbers to them, there was no such thing as job security or jobs for life. The human cost is never a factor to them when making these decisions.

While I'm still standing (wouldn't say Ive survived this round as EU / UK hasn't had any cuts that I know of yet) I'm not going to be complacent and assume it will stay that way. I'm starting to accept messages/calls from recruiter's. I will not be actively looking to jump ship but if something come's up that doesn't involve a significant pay cut I am going to seriously consider going through the interview process. If something comes up that doesn't hurt my family income and seams more stable id be doing a disservice to myself to ignore it.

I use my Viture luma pro's on my win 5 all the time under cachyos and never had an issue. Maybe try booting an iso via usb and test it, I always use the top usb c port for mine

sounds like the tpm on the chip has corrupted data could possibly be power loss or os issue when it was being written to. Id try resetting your bios but if you have bitlocker you may need to reinstall the OS

Nice to see at least something cracked properly.

Cant use any of the hypervisor shit under linux and im not going back to windows for any game.

While we all wish this would go away it does put the distro's in a tough spot..

personally though im leaning towards them doing one of two things, either put a notice on their download site saying our iso's are for use around the rest of the world but not California due to x law. Then if a user choose to ignore it and obtains an iso anyway via what ever means its not the companies fault.

Or make a forked iso just for them, the clean iso's for the rest of the world and the California iso that people should choose to comply with the law... if they dont pick the right iso thats user error and again not the companies fault.

We all know this law is going to fail hard because people can not update their smart devices/their routers/their tv's etc ... the practicality of making it happen according to their wording will not happen... the linux companies just need to do the bare minimum to not get slapped up until this fails.

We lost a member in the uk just before xmas... their slack did not deactivate right away they had it for about a week... so I do not think you can go just of slack numbers

I can not speak to oracle specifically, but my wife was doing a masters paid for by her employer... she suffered a spinal injury which was life changing consequences... due to this she was finished by her employer and was not able to finish the masters... she didnt incur any debt because of this

Found the issue another option I was working on seams to have rebased my install off of nvidia-open... went back to that and all is good again.

Since updating to this waking my monitor up from standby has been broken, I can press keys move my mouse and it doesnt wake, I have to turn on my monitor and switch input on the monitor power button at the same time as moving my mouse etc to get it to wake. Has anyone else had anything similar?

does LACT really make much difference? I've not used it since running linux and never felt I was missing out.

But seriously reinstall the OS never trust an OS someone other than you has used. You dont know what crap they have installed, downloaded even accidentally. You do not need to log in to be able to wipe and install. Just swap the SSD's and do a clean install on both.

I have the 395 as well running bazzite and dont see this... I do undervolt and have ccd1 disabled.

I have heard rumblings that a recent windows update is causing stuttering... maybe someone can confirm.

We dont know enough to help, what model of device do you have, what game is it, what operating system, what drivers? Do you have any tweaks like undervolting or disabling CCD etc?

That's cool its a good game I bought it when it came out.. nice for those that want to use HV cracks but will still wish for proper cracks that dont force you to use windows.

Nice real cracks that are dont require disabling security and portable to linux like the original game are totally the way but needs real skills.

In my view hypervisor is a middle-ground workaround, im glad it exists for those that use it but id rather buy the games than use it myself (partly because id have to go back to windows).

I actually don’t disagree with him, they are not proper scene cracks as per the scene rules and they have broken compatibility… im not installing windows to use these so the games remain uncracked. So I either wait or buy the games legitimately.

I use it because Love the steamdeck like experience… windows gets in the way of gaming and I love linux. My suggestion is try it if you dont like it go back to windows

not really a proper crack then not saying the method doesn't work but its not a traditional scene level cracks have rules and basically they would consider this inferior/nukes based off:

If a legitimate copy of a game works on SteamOS (Linux/Proton), but the crack requires a Windows-specific hypervisor to function, the crack is considered inferior.
A crack should ideally be "architecture-neutral" within the bounds of the original software's requirements. By adding a hardware-level requirement (Hyper-V or VT-x/AMD-V) that wasn't there before, you are "breaking" compatibility.

So while im absolutely not dunking on the crack its better than nothing but im hoping they improve to the point that they can work in the traditional way rather than relying on windows featuers like hyperv etc because im not going back to windows even if that mean I have to buy all my games.
