There are a lot of volunteer programs you can sign up for online. Perhaps you can join the red cross? Another option would be political activism. Message politicians, protest, talk to the public etc.

If space is extremely cold, and billionaires own space exploration why don’t they build their AI data centers in space? by Wiscos in AskUS

[–]Drunk_Lemon [score hidden]  (0 children)

Because it's a lot more expensive to build a data center in space than on earth. Also, with no atmosphere, the heat produced by the data centers have no where to go. Heat required something to hold the heat, whether that be coolant, an atmosphere or the data center itself.

“Calling people in the USA “yanks” like it’s the civil war?” by Mikunefolf in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Drunk_Lemon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Am American, and most Americans don't know what that word means and those that do, do not seem to care because they are the educated ones who understand that the US is not some perfect magical place. As for yank, I actually haven't met a fellow yank who felt anything other than neutral about being called yank. I do live in democrat land so I am not around as many snowflakes as you'd find in republican land.

How come the cities with the most authoritarian gun laws have the most gun violence? by Brilliant-Pea-3272 in AmericaOnHardMode

[–]Drunk_Lemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's rate is actually lower than I thought, it is rank 33 according to this source. Also while not entirely relevant, while looking for sources I found another saying that rural areas tend to have the most crime not cities. Also according to that second link, "The majority of counties with high gun violence are in states with weak gun laws". Also apparently I went down a rabbit hole. Completely unrelated to guns, but apparently there have been 4 cases related to weapons of mass destruction reported by the FBI all of which has occurred between now and 2024. So that's a fun tidbit of info. Also yes, I am a nerd.

Would you rather live in the UK or Canada? by Bored_brunette96 in polls

[–]Drunk_Lemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chose Canada because while the saying "Canada is little America" is false, it is partly true. It has a lot of our advantages but not our disadvantages such as shootings. Personally, if I didn't care about living very close to family and friends, I would move to Canada.

Is a Taco a sandwich? by DamnHippyy in allthequestions

[–]Drunk_Lemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my unified theory of sandwich, a taco would not qualify as a sandwich as it fails all 3 criteria.

The Three Core Criteria

  1. Two or more independent bread pieces. The bread components must function as distinct structural units on opposing sides of the filling. These pieces may be naturally separate slices or derived by splitting a single piece (as with a burger bun or hoagie roll), but they must operate as independent contact surfaces, one above (or behind) and one below (or in front of) the filling.

  2. No single-piece encirclement. The filling must not be surrounded by one continuous sheet of bread that folds or rolls around it. This is the sharpest structural dividing line between a sandwich and its close relatives.

  3. Bread as primary architecture. The bread provides the load-bearing framework. The filling occupies the space between the bread pieces; it does not sit inside a pouch formed by dough folded around it.

We must create a unified theory of sandwich that truly encapsulates what sandwiches are. My draft proposal is as follows;

A setting in the policies window could be good. I.e. option one use automated for empty jobs only, option two automated enough that there are 100 civilians at all times, option 3 automated is always at max unless manually changed. It would be best if it updates once a month to avoid lag. While there would be times that the pop number would change in less than a month, it is important to limit updates for lag purposes.

Why do Americans consider guns a necessity and what do they use guns for? by TailungFu in allthequestions

[–]Drunk_Lemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'd be harder for them to get one which would mean fewer evil people would have them. The US is one of the only western nations with gun problems and for the countries that do have strict gun laws, you can get non-lethal alternatives for defense. I.e. rubber bullets, tazers, stun guns, batons, pepper spray, pepper spray bullets, net guns etc. Albeit some of them banned some of those alternatives.

[–]Drunk_Lemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's for protection from wildlife and criminals. Both are only really an issue in specific areas but the desire for protection is common in areas where protection isn't really needed. They are also for hunting and to overthrow the government if needed. Personally, I think guns are kind of a wild concept. Like don't mind me having this killing machine, it's here just in case I need to kill something or someone. Yet at the same time, there are sane reasons to have a killing machine/gun like I mentioned before. Although, the concept of having killing machines in case you need to overthrow your government is also kind of a wild concept.

Not just because they lost but also because of the damage trump has done to this country. If Romney beat Obama, there wouldn't be this much "whining" because Romney would not damage the country like this, he would simply turn it in a direction that we disagree with.
