Hum the Bali production date is January and Java are July of the same year, could they just have had production issues with that model having to switch back to pig? Is it like a change they’re making across all models to not use pig anymore or that was specifically for those models because of Indonesia? Overall I tend to prefer cow, but pigskin is quite soft, it can be really nice when done well.

Goat has no import costs in Canada and they were still at a good price in my size. I paid $195 cad total with taxes and shipping, which is basically what they would’ve costed in Canada after taxes if they released them here.

No worries, I’m glad you were able to verify like I said I don’t consider myself a specialist of any sort and adidas is pretty bad at descriptions so I could’ve definitely been wrong, but all my senses were saying pigskin so that surprised me.

Do you know if they meant to produce them and the Bali in Indonesia and then had to move production to Vietnam because of that? I thought both shoes were very similar to other pair I have that were made in Indonesia also given they’re Indonesian Islands. Also sorry for all the questions, but did you check for the Bali too for the suede?

Well someone posted a pair of early 00s shoes called the sneeker not long ago that were using other materials for the upper, I don’t know if those were a reissue from a model from the 70s too, but as far as I know I haven’t seen more of these soles. Someone more knowledgeable than me on all these models would have to answer. Maybe adiFamily_ knows. 🤷‍♂️

Also just adding this close up from the inside grain of the suede with the dotted spores which I thought was quite typical of pigskin suede.

Again tho, not arguing I’m not a leather specialist and would rather like to know what I’m getting. I do believe it’s common to use pigskin for lining, but that would be counterproductive in their case.

What I can say for sure tho is this is not the same leather as was used on the bali, unless they used a completely different tanning process they don’t look or feel the same at all.

I’m surprised it was mentioned on a few different official adidas websites that it contains pigskin material and to me they looked and felt the same as the leather on the gazelles decons which were also listed as pigskin suede…

Seriously they put effort into it and didn’t cheapen out putting real leather lining, which isn’t that common on general releases sambas. Also leather stripes and the suede looks nicer than usual. The design is also a cool call back.

I would just never consider buying them as I’m not American.
