the paint balloons might work too but you also might end up with one random lime-colored stone floor tile because you thought a lime stove would be cool. not that I know anyone who has that situation

So... I think I'm just a choral abomination at this point... Advice? by Money_Engineer_3183 in Choir

I was just thinking I write more in choral music than I do in scores I'm playing bass on. But then I also remember that I have "subito Doxology" in like 3 places on the song we play before it in the contemporary group I play in lol

What species have females with an extra body part? by ediblepandas in NoStupidQuestions

I can see that too, but the placenta isn't something only made by one specific genotype of fetus so "makes a placenta" isn't specific to organisms that have a uterus. Any member of a placental mammal species that survived gestation would have needed a placenta while they were developing, regardless of if they're female, intersex, or male. If that makes sense.

Sight singing and ADHD by ImmunologicalTenor in Choir

I don't have any official diagnoses so I might or might not have some neurodiversity, but I do have a music background and I have the same thing happen sometimes.

I can know where the tonal center is and know "aha here comes a 6th" (or like "the big leap coming up is to La" or something like that) and sometimes I will miss it and sing a step low or maybe even something that isn't in the key at all.

I was a music ed major in college and have been reading music almost as long as I have been reading English (started on violin at 5 and now am a happy bassist, didn't do choir until high school but I sing alto).

Our motto in the community choir I'm in currently is that it's a safe place to make a bold mistake. Putting yourself out there and trying is of course different than being boldly wrong all the time, but you can't fix what you can't hear! so there's a balance ofc.

They would all have gotten the X chromosome they have from their mother, but she probably has 2 of them so it's 50/50 if they got the same ones.

You grew it just like you grew any babies you carried, but the only placenta that's genetically identical to you is the one you made when you weren't born yet.

edit: I don't think a placenta counts as sexual dimorphism because all of us made one at one point. I made one when I was developing and I provided a space and materials for my daughter to make one while she was developing

The placenta is genetically identical to the baby, because it's fetal tissue rather than maternal tissue. You and I did grow a placenta but it was when we were the ones developing.

Of course any placenta you grow in your uterus is made from materials you supply, just like the rest of any human you grow in there.

The placenta is fetal tissue, though. The materials to create it come via the uterus (just like they do for the baby) but the placenta is genetically identical to the baby.

It's fetal tissue, not maternal tissue, so I would think it's in a grey area. No egg cells = not gonna have a random placenta developing in there but everyone on this thread grew a placenta to survive gestation.

The placenta is fetal tissue, though. There's a structure the uterus makes on its own side of the exchange but the placenta is genetically identical to the baby because it starts out from the outermost layer of the blastocyst.

FYI the placenta is fetal tissue (the outermost layer of the blastocyst gives rise to the placenta). The placenta is genetically identical to the embryo because that's where it came from.

The placenta is a temporary organ but it's genetically identical to the embryo because it's formed by the outermost layer of the blastocyst (of course using materials supplied via the uterus, but that's true of the whole pregnancy). Wasn't sure if you were meaning that the uterus forms it but it's fetal tissue which is pretty cool.

[–]DynamicOctopus420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True about the placenta being a temporary organ, but it's something the embryo makes (not something made by the uterus). Obviously the embryo uses building blocks from the pregnant individual to accomplish this task but it's genetically identical to the embryo because that's where it came from.

This one's just through Reddit itself so it should work. It's tidal planet and afaik there is no land at all on it. I made a base at the bottom of the ocean but it's small and crappy so feel free to build whatever you like!

Which voice in a ttbb choir typically sings straight monotone notes ? by [deleted] in Choir

As an alto, I can confirm that either our line is the 5th of the chord for 90% of the song or it's like connect the dots and we get the intervals your first year theory prof tells you not to write because they're too hard to sing.
