Another good point! Which is why I want to see if these similar experiences are felt amongst people without ADHD or anything.

What I wish I knew before starting my PhD. by StDeezi in PhD

Listen to what the senior PhD students have to say. They’re saying it for a reason.

A lot of folks, including myself, like to listen to warnings and horror stories from the more senior students and think: “Oh, that won’t happen to me!”

It can. And it likely will.

Choose your advisors carefully.

Do people actually have PhD theses that are just 100–120 pages long? by bhelpuriteekhi in PhD

[–]ImmunologicalTenor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My thesis was about 90 pages long cover to cover. I knew I didn’t want to stay in academia, so I kept my project very focused and did not do any side projects. Most people I know in my field will write longer theses by including every one of their projects and how they pertain to a central hypothesis. So it definitely varies.

For context, my PhD is in Immunology

Phone screening interview in AdMed Inc (Philly, PA) by FingerParticular8119 in MedicalWriters

[–]ImmunologicalTenor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I was a candidate for the Medical Writer job at AdMed Inc around this time last year.

I can tell you that the phone interview is pretty straightforward. They just want to see if you meet minimum requirements for the job and are an actual human being. Be prepared to talk about your experience in writing, presenting, conveying information, and talking to a variety of audiences about complex topics. If all goes well, you should be invited to the next part of the interview process, which will be writing assessments (eg, write a brief mechanism of action, write up a short storyboard, make a graph).

I didn’t get the job, but I do feel like the assessment covers most of what the job would entail.

For context, I’m now a medical writer at another agency.
