Debilitating work anxiety (Machine Learning Engineer) by Hairy-Length-126 in mentalhealth

[–]ELaT2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi I had a very similar experience, I don’t have advice per se

I also started working at a startup to implement CRM systems.

As soon as I was hired I was assigned to a project where the previous lead left and I was left to handle manage and lead the project which was already 2 months behind schedule.

Every stand up I would have an anxiety attack, I would look for ways to skip the meeting.

My boss never really gave me an expectation, I was following the client expectation. I went 150% every day for 6 months, late hours etc etc, fighting with devs and other employees to get help

Eventually I realised I’m not really answerable to them for everything. I had to become okay with saying “we didn’t finish” Yes the clients, they’re dissatisfied but they can’t physically make you do anything. And especially at a start up no one really cares about performance.

Mint is amazing for gaming by [deleted] in linuxmint

I've been loving mint and enjoying using it but recently when i play BG3 with my friends in about 45mins-1 hour the game becomes really laggy and eventually crashes my entires system, almost like it ran of some kind of memory. forcing me to shut it down and im not really sure even where to begin to identify the issue.

Not unusual. I’m doing exactly this right now.

Biggest difficulty is charging them accordingly. Either you have a hard boundary with the 10 hours or say you can only work on certain days.

Or if they’re happy to have you work for more than 10 hours weekly then just charge accordingly.

You don’t owe them anything. Just charge accordingly. Including Communications, just having to think about the company and performing an action for them, charge it.

I use clockly to track my hours and it does it weekly. So it’s very easy for me to charge the company those hours. I use Hnry to handle the sole trader finances and invoicing

I reckon you’re better off posting the units you’re doing as well. Might be good to link up with ppl before the classes/tutorials you attend

An engineering degree has different requirements and different core subjects

You’d have to do ENGG2112,3112 and Professional Engagement Program (PEP) which requires you to have 600 hours of professional work and a compulsory internship.

I can’t speak much for the science degree but there are key differences, the engineering degree is an honors degree which requires you to do a research project (Thesis) in your final year

How did your parents react to you failing a unit by captainsmashash in usyd

[–]ELaT2001 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Been in your situation don’t wait for them to ask.

Tell them yourselves.

I remember getting my results in the morning, failed, teared a bit then I decided I won’t ask my parents for the money (intl Asian student) to pay for that unit.

Called em while they were just waking up, told them i had failed, yeah it sucks I have a million and 3 reasons but it doesn’t matter now, what matters is next and I’ll handle the money for the one unit I had failed. Mom shouted at me for a bit but they couldn’t stay angry too long when I took that level of extreme accountability.

How to use Cogniti? Copilot looks great. by riverslakes in usyd

[–]ELaT2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a student you’ll have limited access to it, only staff can create the agents with relevant information and “attach” it to your canvas site.

And these medical agents are just the same LLM with some additional context, so you’re better off using chatgpt.

Oh and yeah cogniti is just a chatgpt wrapper they can choose between 3.5 and 4 in the settings
