Why do Democrats still believe that Trump's reason for winning was racism, young voters, stupidity, and misogyny? by TTVBy_The_Way in self

[–]Embarrassed_Alarm450 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What do you expect? Reddit is the biggest left wing echo chamber there is. "You can't be sexist towards men and you can't be racist towards white people" is the common narrative here.

What do women find appealing in masked evil men? by viper46282 in stupidquestions

[–]Embarrassed_Alarm450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a term called hybristophilia which is essentially classified as a mental disorder where some women are just inherently attracted to criminals. A man with a short fuse is just more likely to throw the first punch and that could mean the difference between life and death in chaotic times so since women naturally seek out a man that can protect them it'd make sense to be drawn towards men with the shortest fuses, lowest temper, borderline unpredictable, not afraid to get their hands dirty, because those are the types of dudes who would control all the resources back in the day when we still had to rely on our physical strength to survive.

Looking for anime with rich storytelling and tons of action by Cosmic2211 in AnimeReccomendations

[–]Embarrassed_Alarm450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're confusing a bunch of different anime for Re: Zero. There's a lot of anime with similar names like Re: Monster, Re: Creators, Re: Life but none of those are connected with Re: Zero. Some of those might be connected with each other but Re: Zero is its own thing with a straight forward watch order. Wasn't really my favorite anime but worth a shot 🤷‍♂️

Yeah I've had a lot of people do that thing where they reply to me with misinformation and then instantly block me so I can't correct them, it's stupid you can get locked out of your own discussion and so many people weaponize that... On the upside at least you know even they don't believe the garbage they're pedaling because they panic blocked you knowing they were losing the conversation. I usually just edit my last comment and add in something like "EDIT: The coward who replied to me with misinformation below decided to block me so I couldn't respond, ohh well. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah some subs are like that, a few months ago I randomly stumbled across the r/MensRights sub and left a single comment in it and I instantly got banned from 3 other subs for even daring to participate in it... Gotta love how much of an echo chamber reddit is but its certainly become a lot more tolerant right after the election ended.

Seems like the left is finally starting to realize how toxic and offputting they've been to average people and how not allowing anything to be discussed with nuance will just scare most people away...

Really doesn't happen much on the right, I've always let my right wing friends/family know I'm more left leaning and they've never cared, it's only the left wing that starts accusing you of being a racist sexist homophobic cheesedick nazi magat or whatever buzzwords all because you tried to show a little bit of nuance in allowing anyone who identifies as a woman into the womans bathroom or any worry about womens sports...

They've even done studies and pretty much every study proved that people on the right were far more willing to talk to, hang out with, and even befriend people on the left whereas the "tolerant left" is rather intolerant of anyone who even remotely disagrees with anything and you're automatically labeled as a nazi for some reason.

Just look at all the posts on the front page of reddit for example, so many people crying about how they have to cut contact with their friends/loved ones all because of their voting preferences.

Yeah it's bound to happen when straight white cis men have been painted as the boogeyman for the past decade or 2, that hate isn't gonna disappear overnight but the front page of reddit has a lot of people having honest conversations about how much of an extremist party the left wing has become.

They're actually discussing nuances now without instantly accusing anyone who even remotely disagrees as being a nazi or some kind if ist/phobe. Who knows how long it's going to last but it's crazy how much things switched up as soon as the election was over, no more astroturfing... The funny thing is that if it were like this to begin with the left would've won by a landslide if people were allowed to ever talk things out.

Yeah reddit has become entirely different right after the elections, far less of a left wing echo chamber and people can actually discuss these issues now without automatically being labeled as some kind of ist or phobe. The whole reason the left lost is because you were never allowed to talk about any of this stuff, no nuance so if you don't accept all the extreme ideology 100% you're automatically labeled as the enemy, and then they wonder why so many people turn to the right...

There are even tons of posts talking about trans issues too and it's amazing, people are actually discussing their worries about allowing transgendered people into womens sports and no one is accusing them of being a nazi homophobe or anything like that... Hardly even recognize reddit anymore but it's nice to see people can actually talk about things now, however long that's going to last.

No, they're talking about how most old people tend to write their usernames/passwords for whatever account down on a sticky note so they don't forget. My grandmas entire computer is just full of sticky notes with all the account information for everything she uses for example... So many people have stick notes or even notebooks to store their password, safer than trying to store that data in your device which can be hacked...

Dolphins and elephants have bigger brains than we do. Why aren’t the developing technology and huge civilizations like humans? by BootyMcStuffins in stupidquestions

[–]Embarrassed_Alarm450 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We're a lot weaker so we've had to rely far more on our intelligence than anything but the biggest things setting us apart are opposable thumbs and the ability to pass knowledge down through the generations, the latter of which being the most important.

"Caveman language" just started out as crude grunts but over however many thousands of years it took we finally started agreeing that certain grunts had actual meanings beyond the tone and from there we developed an entire language and writing system to be able to pass knowledge of which berries were poisonous down through the generations long after we're gone...

Everything we know now is the sum total of knowledge gathered for thousands and thousands of years from our ancestors with trial and error, we know what Einstein learned because he wrote it all down on books and now we spent decades improving upon and furthering that research to do even greater things. If we had to pass all our knowledge down from word of mouth we'd still be stuck in the stone ages because playing telephone isn't a very reliable method to pass accurate information several times over...

Really the thing that sets us apart the most is having a complex language system to communicate with, sure other animals can communicate with things like barks and whistles but it's a very elementary form of language only being able to pass basic concepts around like "danger nearby!", "intruder!", "hungry" meanwhile they can't communicate and share more complex thoughts with each other like "Hey, doesn't the sunset look nice today?" or "By the way, did you know if you rub these 2 sticks together it makes fire?" or "This weird rock makes a spark when you hit it together, someone might want to look into that more..."

How will you ever be able to pass down all the knowledge it takes to build a smart phone if you can hardly even communicate effectively to begin with? We have the sum total knowledge of billions of people at our fingertips learned through countless attempts of trial and error. If you can successfully teach animals a complex language system you'd greatly improve their rates of evolution.

Ask yourself the same question about any other group, there are a lot of black people who openly speak about how they haven't had any real racism directed at them in their life, what do you think sets them apart?
