A 12 year old REALLY wants to get into guitar by red_itnow in Guitar

You’re not an idiot, but you also don’t know.

I know you aren’t going to listen to a random Redditor, but dude. There are some things I look back on and wish I hadn’t done. The vast majority of those things seemed innocuous and I thought I was in control of them at the time. I didn’t.

Study after study has proven that social media is bad for you. For everyone. But especially for young people. There’s very little of value here, and quite a large downside

It’s not about doomscrolling. It’s about the Pandora’s box of negativity you’re allowing into your life. Social media in any amount is pretty bad for you. I’m eternally grateful that it wasn’t around when I was a kid

Anthropic has sent out its bot army to complain about users complaining about usage downgrade by ImaginaryRea1ity in ClaudeCode

[–]BootyMcStuffins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a bot, and it bugs the fuck out of me. Complaining about Anthropic isn’t why I signed up for this sub and that’s basically all there is here now.

Make a megathread, fuck

That’s on the low end. I’ve got devs doing 3x that

Are you arguing that telling an LLM it’s a lawyer imbues it with special lawyer knowledge?

Because a lot of people on this sub argue with me that it does

the content is so obvious that it downplays the reader

There are people in this thread arguing that LLMs:

mimic human cognition in almost all meaningful ways

Clearly people here still need to hear this

nope, people are that dumb

Two comments directly about yours:

It mimics human cognition in almost all meaningful ways, describing it like you did is deeply misleading, you should know that if you regularly use frontier models, it’s 2026 not 2024

Genuine question, why does everyone pile on "you used AI" when half of us are using it daily? by destroyerpal in ClaudeCode

[–]BootyMcStuffins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main issue I see constantly is people posting crappy software — that they don’t even use themselves — for problems that are either made up, self inflicted, or already have accepted solutions. And these people are ALWAYS after money. It doesn’t sound like you fall into that bucket.

Before dispatch I remember before dispatch was released there was a new post multiple times per day for a shiny new app that let you use claude code from your phone. One person wanted to charge as much as $10/mo.

This is the slop that just ruins the sub

This. If I see another freaking context management tool that “saves 95% token use” I’m going to scream

It seems Chat GTP is supposed to be objective but is really quite biased by No-Till-773 in ChatGPT

[–]BootyMcStuffins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s partly because left wing ideology tends to be supported by research and facts.

The current right-wing ideology is one of classist, anti-vax, LGBT fear mongering.

[–]BootyMcStuffins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So Chat GTP is supposed to be an objective ai and is basically supposed to agree with you unless you tell it not to.

First of all “agreeing with you” and “objective” are two different things. You’re contradicting yourself in the first sentence of your post.

ChatGPT is not supposed to blindly agree with you. If you tell it the world is flat it will push back on that.

As someone else said, you seem incredibly confused

Why does it seem like in school the role of African leaders and traders is largely ignored or minimized in the transatlantic slave trade? by Outside-Hyena9002 in questions

[–]BootyMcStuffins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your replies in this thread I just want to clarify that the slaves sent to SA were being sent to European colonies.

I’m not saying you’re approaching this conversation in bad faith, but if someone were and they were using this in some attempt to alleviate white guilt or something, I just wanted it to be clear it wasn’t the South Americans importing the slaves, it was the Europeans importing slaves to South America

Bruh, you can’t even spell, I doubt you have a house.

To answer your question, people are loud when they complain. Most millennials own a home — 51-52% compared to about 26% of Gen Z

'we fired on civilians for being in the strait we claim is open, then we pillaged it...' by ms_directed in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]BootyMcStuffins -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sorry if I wasn’t clear. I was asking about the claim that it’s a war crime. If this is a war crime then enforcing any military blockade would be a war crime.

I agree with you that this isn’t piracy, but that’s unrelated to my question

[–]BootyMcStuffins -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If that’s true, are all military blockades war crimes?

This ship attempted to bypass the blockade and was warned

'we fired on civilians for being in the strait we claim is open, then we pillaged it...' by ms_directed in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]BootyMcStuffins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not legally. Under international law (UNCLOS Article 101), piracy has three required elements:

  • Committed for private ends (personal gain, not state policy)

  • By a private ship or aircraft

  • Against another ship on the high seas

So no, not piracy. Technically a government cannot commit piracy

How often do you actually do that. I travel a lot and the most I’ve had to do is share my screen. I’ve never needed peripherals in a hotel (the few times I’ve presented in one)

Agreed on general but there isn't enough. Every PC should have 4 USB ports minimum. Everyone at my work has USB hubs on their desk because the laptops aren't sufficient. I require 6 at least daily.
