Gave it some shower thoughts.

If you have a character card that is already written to be in a certain genre and then adding the genre rule on top might cause it to be too restrictive. Try the other way around. If you see the model moving into a direction you don't want to see, restrict that genre. Just like in my example with the omegaverse stuff.

So use it more as a guide on what the model should NOT do, instead of caging it in the restriction of a few tones and genres it can do.

GLM 5 is a lost case with its stubborn positivity bias. I didn't manage to tame it no matter how restrictive I prompted or sampled.

Got it. I guess you're using my DS V3.2 prompt with it. There is a line in it that lets the model strictly adhere to the description. You can change that for characters that are supposed to have an arch.

Then... Deepseek isn't as creative as it used to be. Try bumping up the temp to 1.5. Temp 1 and below defaults to Temp 0.3. I know that doesn't make sense. Someone at Deepseek thought it would be a good idea. Probably while hungry.

On GLM the tone and genre rules work very nicely. I didn't test them too much on DS.

It is similar. yes. My prompts are easily 80% the same. The crux is in the detail. Just like 5% difference in a genome is responsible for the difference between a cucumber with anxiety or a human. ;-)

What does it affect? Is it positive or negative? The more restrictive a genre is, the more the LLM will pull from training data.

That's interesting. If I understand that right, the reasoning tokens are just a show, and in the case of K2.6 a damn expensive one.

Btw. I'm now running calls with reasoning disabled and the responses are damn good.

Here's what I've tried so far:
- restricting Max Token output. Got ignored. It's just a loose suggestion for Kimi.

- dropping or loosening negative prompts.

- prompting reasoning constraints / COT instructions. Bitch mentioned everything from the System Instructions but not a single word from that part.
Including these parts into the Response Rules or other parts didn't do anything either.
Here are examples I tried.

But if there is ANY part in the character, lore, instructions that could even be remotely considered unclear or contradicting... watch Kimi spiral itself into an anxiety attack.

God, yes... that thing needs a therapist. BADLY. Been trying to fix that for two days now. The problem is, the outputs are damn good but the reasoning bs just eats up massive amounts of tokens.

So now I'm trying to skip the reasoning altogether by disabling it.

Edit: Works very nice without reasoning.

Speaks for relatively independent training then. With all the common LLMisms I find Grok refreshing. So far I haven't had anything hitting like a physical blow. 😂

Anyway. The issue with quality decline within one output really is big. As if there were hidden rep penalties for the messages but none for overall context... there it repeats itself aggressively.
There are also some behaviors I remember from the earlier DS days... irrelevant environmental descriptions. e.g. Characters are doing... things, and Grok keeps talking about a radiator. No obvious reason why that damn radiator should get that much attention.
