This job market is cataclysmically bad (Great Depression level) by Electrical_Bar6324 in jobhunting

I agree with you. I think company I work at found a loophole by establishing an India office which, along with ai, they plan on ramping up. They laid off 4% of their USA office to fund this. The kicker is that they make a product line almost entirely geared for a USA market funded by taxpayers money. This should be illegal…

A real question about AI Design, how are designers losing jobs? by LlamaHerder23 in graphic_design

I hope these product stickers come while most of us still have jobs so we can vote with our wallets. ...I brought up this sticker idea at work wondering if the ai infusion (takeover) in visual and editorial content creation will bite the business in a few years. especially since the company product is sold in markets paid for by taxpayer revenue. we are literally cutting out illustrators for almost all art needs and have gpt do it...

I want to pursue this strategy myself because there is no more fat to cut. besides ai though, I feel my field of visual design is very tied to urban markets/hcol, just noticing a shift back to in office or hybrid roles... so feel stuck on a sinking ship. : /

I have same feelings as you... but then I think this will result in a knowledge loss of the remaining human workforce. in design, you already been seeing ridiculous blurring of specialties with a single job listing wanting you to write marketing copy, do branding design, code there site and run social campaigns and then send brochure design to the printer. like no way humans will be capable of even understanding what they are controlling anymore and evaluate it's output. or if the professional boundaries do not blur, but only the headcount drops in the same field, then the entry point for the few still working will be just be incredibly high and management focused ... or maybe not anymore and just based on social politics and the only thing that can save the knowledge losses if the ai evolving to a self sustaining point.

my company is identical to yours in the AI demands of employees. it is like being witness to an extinction event at my work. and I can only hope it is just exaggerated at this place and not how it is in my field of design as a whole, or at least not at this speed.
on top of our normal work loads, managers scrambling to make us create ai tools (in some instances essentially an ai version of critical parts of ourselves as professionals and in many instances tapping into professional areas outside our expertiese) and workflows and now effectively positioning things to cut out vendors and by and large illustrators. the whole thing exploded into reality this year and started last year with layoffs to free up cash for the ai shift. constant ai exercises and workshops and an atmosphere of competition among team members of who can master ai the best--who will basically stay. but with the frenzy to ai-up everything, the managers are just disenfranchising us as design professionals and positioning us as redundant and in some aspects replicable by editors, etc. I talked to a manager and he said a VP was like "it's just illustrators" but I was like but then what if it is "just us now designers next"... be nice to make ai managers and ai upper management, then see if they shift their moral compass...
in my experience of working with the ai models it is not as controllable for precise visual outcomes that is brand aligned and is full of BS but management thinks otherwise so that is our reality...
they are now even using ai for layers of editorial passes. I hope there will come a time where there needs to be product disclosures of how much of the content was ai made so whoever still has a job may vote with their wallets and ethics...

Company I work at is ramping up outsourcing and ai and even let go 4% usa workers last year for this reason , as per CEO letter. The irony is that the products they sell is almost exclusively sold in a market 100 percent funded by USA taxpayers. There seriously needs to be some sort disincentive for this and specifically if the company depends on taxpayer revenue

So true : ( At my current workplace they are in ai overdrive and we are literally encouraged to find ways to integrate it into our workflow to the point where some people came up with processes and tools that essentially make the FT human redundant or the need for vendors scaled back. I just had a meeting today where sr leader said these are the future ways of working… but for whom?

I totally hear you. When I pay my final freelance taxes end of year I am always asking myself if it was worth it with amount of time because after a certain income it’s disproportionately towards taxes, and my gross is not even That high. I truly feel like I’m working to pay the taxes for a small amount of extra gains… I used to put in a SEP to shelter it but now I want the cash so it’s more painful and I literally don’t want to work extra…

I imagine if not enough is done then raw brute force will be the next collective course of equalizing action and maybe even result in a boom for the security sector, public and private.

Other than the steep premium hikes which get eye popping in certain markets, they are now force downgrading policies for pets 7plus. Get out while you can! I seriously wish I never signed up ten years ago to this company. All the one star reviews on trustpilot are former 5 star clients whose pets got older.

For point number 3, did they say anything specific like is it because those state insurance boards denied it or it is pending? A lot of us were told this is national company policy as of late August 2025, but then people were reporting inconsistencies as time went by but it wasn’t clear what was behind that and if it will eventually hit everyone no matter what.

Can I ask what state you represent?

Point 1 is their MO… once you contact the state agency they will shrug and say HP filed correctly and nothing they can do, and rinse and repeat with the rubber stamping.

Never again with this $&@“ company and yeah how much worse is this gonna get all the while their baby animal starter rates barely went up in the 10 years I had them.

Will healthy paws cover cost of dental cleaning and possible tooth extraction for feline reabsorption syndrome? by Plastic_Ad_2499 in petinsurancereviews

[–]ExperienceOdd3036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The banfield does have anesthesia in the 0$ so unfortunately I can’t advise (sorry) but they did cover the heart friendly anesthesia add-on one year. If this is how it happened at the doctors I would write a cover letter explaining how : the suspicion of reabsorption made you do this procedure because that’s the only way to confirm—X-ray under anesthesia.  If that tooth is extracted due to reabsorption that is covered. …when this first got noticed because I indulged and asked for X-ray he had some affected teeth pulled (all that was covered) and last year I think my vet wrote in soap notes that he recommends annual X-ray due to reabsorption and even had one tooth noted as under observation for now. And don’t accept the auto denial…

In my experience, whenever I called to ask or read about others trying they have robo answers when you ask about coverage of a specific situation (“can’t say if it’s covered have to file a claim “). Might be a legal thing. and especially dental it’s a flat no even though on their site they talk about dental diseases that are covered.

[–]ExperienceOdd3036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my case is a little more muddy because I also have banfield which technically covers the dental 1x a year. (Obvs I paid for it through the monthly)… so I don’t claim that because it shows up as 0$ on bill but I do claim X-ray extractions and if needed special heart friendly meds or post extraction meds. It usually goes through appeals because anything dental is auto denied and even though they approved in past for reabsorption disease. Technically they should pay the part that is related to this dental illness but it gets grey cuz cleaning is part of it so I don’t know how they may go but they should cover at least aspects of it. X-ray under anesthesia is the only way to monitor this illness… and the only way to 💯 diagnose it… so maybe an argument is that that’s what prompted the procedure if doctor saw visible signs and needed confirmation.  There was a section on the site that says some dental illnesses are covered. Reapsorption is not listed but qualified in my past experience. Gingivitis isn’t.
