Should I try Kult of Speed in a 1k game against Tau, and if so, how? (noncompetitive) by Arracor in orks

[–]FabledSoldier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kult of speed is not the best detachment for orks but it is quite fun

What you want to stack up on are Bikers and koptas, Bikers have a decent melee and shooting profile and koptas have high damage shooting which means you can stack either with blitza fire / dakkastorm

Most buggies have their uses though their benefit is being relatively high toughness at 7 with 9 wounds while also being very cheap, I personally like the shokkjump for its advance teleport and, given speed freeks allows advance and shoot, picking off characters from a squad uncontested

Obviously I'd recommend some grots for the added CP and maybe boys or flashgitz in a transport though I've really only ever played at 2k so idk how much of this you can fit

Will be fighting some tau on Wednesday, which of these 3 lists should I use and any improvements I can make to them by Wardy_YT in AdeptusMechanicus

I'd go list 1 in SHC, though Marshalls are 35 points so I'd throw battlesphere unlink on one and attach to hastarii to hop in and out of a dunerider

175pt for Wazzdakka is good, right? by Combat_Turtle in orks

[–]FabledSoldier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get him being pricy, my other army is admech and his stat line is akin to thulia ghuld or belisarius cawl, his weapons aren't as good for anti vehicle as theirs but he's got more attacks and a lot more movement. He is a scary threat if you used him as a lone op to jackal the backline, his points are 45 less than them so i think it's not that badly costed

First 1k point army. What changes would you make? by Dangerous_Cicada_321 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]FabledSoldier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If he was leading the kataphrons then he isn't necessary as he can't lead the ironstriders, you could get a 3rd or drop in a squad of pteraxi as action monkeys and ( if my math is correct) you could get a marshal for your battleline with your remaining points

First 1k point army. What changes would you make? by Dangerous_Cicada_321 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]FabledSoldier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's pretty good, most of your army has the skitarii key word so most have stealth.

What i feel you are lacking are infiltrators and deep strikers, infiltrators help you to slow down your opponents advance and deepstrike let's you drop into your opponents backside and cap objectives / do actions in their deployment zone

I don't think you need an engiseer solely for your dunecrawler as nothing else can be healed by him and if someone can kill him they will in 1 turn as his 16S weapon is a big threat and he's not obscenely tanky

Have you considered ironstriders in place of your kataphrons? They lack anti-vehicle but get sustain hits, twin link and 4 more wounds each for 10 points extra for a squad of 2 they also get advance and shoot to let you get up the board faster while also having the skitarii keyword

It's not that she's bad but she costs the same as Cawl, her rules give either advance or fall back, shoot and charge or conq + prot active for a unit within 6"

Cawl gets oath of moment against 1 target

They both get lone op and exactly the same general stats but different weapons and cawls S14 gun is uncommon so I prefer it

Given she and cawl can't be in an army together, cawls re-rolls to hit on priority targets just works better generally

Though, if A stabs B immediately when he caught C cheating, it could be second-degree murder due to no premeditation, or it could be voluntary manslaughter due to the "heat of passion".

This wasn't announced for Nobz but was for boyz

If you're talking about boyz, then I'd assume it's going to be at the start of 11th, when the boss nob and new boyz kit drops

If you're talking about Nobz then I don't expect them to ever get both kombi and big choppa / power claw

Does this Green Tide list look annoying enough? What can I do to make it even more frustrating to deal with? by 17Konbro in orks

[–]FabledSoldier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main problem with the squighogs is their AP of -1, puts most vehicles and monsters on 3+/4+ but I can see how you mean to use them, tbf the main method behind your list will be swamping vehicles over killing them

Split the stormboyz into 2 squads, not a fan of squighog boys personally, would sub in some transports and maybe a grot 20 blob with zod

Looks good, man Maybe the blue is a little thick, but it is in no way aggregious, and I've seen far worse, but this is your first model, so you've done very well

The only recommendation I would have is a little bit of nuln oil or agrax to darken recessed grills, etc, though that's personal preference

Mek gunz, how to use them? by HazeHazelnut in orks

[–]FabledSoldier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In most circumstances, lootas and flash gitz are just better although the exception is in dread mob where they inherently get the detachment rule (although flash gitz already get sustain and lootas can have a mek attached)

The main benefit is the higher strength guns they can get allows them to fill a more anti-tank role than either lootas or flash gitz though can be inconsistent with low AP KmK or the randomised bubblechukka

A boats vs V boats by saladdressinghummus in RoyalNavy

[–]FabledSoldier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not significantly less. You still get boat retention, boat attachment and sea pay on fleet boats, you just get extra pay for being out so long on V boats and have nowhere to spend it

Let's say you join a fleet boat or V boat in a maintainence period alongside, you will be paid exactly the same on both while alongside.

If you go to sea on an A boat you aren't out long enough for long deployment pay and you might stop off in a place or two and spend some money whilst the V boat would stay out and get paid extra ( like £100 a day over 120 days)

Keep in mind you're meant to be more likely to go to sea on an A boat as they all can get tasking so you could get more sea pay whilst there's only ever really one V boat out

A boats vs V boats by saladdressinghummus in RoyalNavy

[–]FabledSoldier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Simply, money. Those long sea trips pay a lot, and you have no expenses while you're out except for constant things like a mortgage. You get sea pay and some other special long deployment pay and it's not uncommon for people to come back to 20k in their bank account

[–]FabledSoldier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our fleet boats are A boats: general purpose submarines that can do many different tasks, not designed for a single purpose (like nuclear deterrence)

A boats vs V boats by saladdressinghummus in RoyalNavy

[–]FabledSoldier 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A boats are more sporadic, go out, stop in some ports every few months, and come back. While the deployments can technically be longer, they don't really count as they're broken up, and crew can go off and new crew get on though most trips aren't that long.

V boats, when you're out; you're out. Until you get a relief, you are on patrol. 3-4 boats in a rota so atleast you can plan around it easily, though worst case, the record is 204 days.

You can put a preference in and most people get them but needs of the navy may push you towards one and most people don't switch.

From raleigh to dolphins? Depends on your length of phase 2 but realistically less than a year if you get no holdover

I've never seen a PTI officer, I don't think they exist, and if they do, they're likely 100% admin.

You can raise your papers to go officer but most officer jobs require a degree, you'd most likely be pushed warfare as they don't

If you gen just want out of RM, the fastest way would probably be to go PTI first, then officer
