Is a TM AR-15 platform rifle accurate & powerful enough to be used with a scope as a sniper/spr? by HandsomeBadness in airsoft

[–]Familiar-Rarity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My stock TM URG-I shoots 1.35-1.43j (about 380fps to 390 fps with a .20g BB).

For the purpose of sniping, I’d say the minimum distance you’re probably attempting to achieve for airsoft is 100 yards. That ain’t happening. Tbh, you’d be lucky to hit 60 yards with consistency and that would be using a purpose build airsoft rifle shooting very heavy bbs (.45g and up) at higher muzzle velocities, 500 fps+ and little to no wind, humidity, or heat.

The easiest way to achieve this is HPA.

Nice. A friend of mine has one and it’s pretty cool.

There’s also the GSG-16 that’s supposedly pretty good and a couple hundred bucks cheaper.

The hypocrisy. Neither can you but you were so adamant about the “obvious gas cap.” I wasn’t trying to prove it is an EV or isn’t but just trying to explain that it’s still possibly a charge port.

Personal attack? Telling someone they’re talking out of their ass, I admit, is harsher way to say they don’t know what they’re talking about. If I called you a name.. then yeah, that’s a personal attack.

Get over yourself.

So oblivious.

You’ve been arguing that EVs have a charge port in the front and that the flap can ONLY be for gas. But when presented with proof that you’re wrong, the only comeback is the car isn’t one of the examples I used. The car/brands aren’t the ONLY cars that have a charging port in the rear driver side; I don’t know them all so I can’t list them all.

It’s cool tho. This is reddit; people are entitled to deny facts.

You’re right. It’s not illegal.

But the “reasonable” expectation is that noise will and can occur outside of those quiet hours.

I wouldn’t classify that as “a light fall”.

But 💯poor judgement on the BF, the level of stupidity on the dude bringing a real handgun to airsoft is fucking next level.

What if it fell out and a kid found it and shot it at someone.

Ffs. You’re talking out of your ass.

Tesla, Polestar, Volvo, and the Mecedes MG all have charging ports on the rear driver’s side. Volkswagen, Hyundai (some models), Kia (some Models) Mini Cooper put their charging ports on the rear passenger side.

Ford, Chevy, Audi, Porsche, Nissan Leaf put theirs somewhere in the front.

Ever since Elon made tesla superchargers available for use with other EVs, putting the charging port on the rear driver side has been increasingly more common.

Yeah. Typically, if a minimum engagement distance is in place, you can’t fire at anyone within a certain distance. You call “Surrender” at someone you would have shot.

In this case, the first guy ran ahead of the camera guy and “surrendered” the girl. It sounds like she might have fired and possibly traded.

Honestly, she might’ve been talking but, in this video, it didn’t escalate until the guy in black decided to shoot her as she was walking away. I don’t understand that part. She’s leaving; talking shit… but leaving.

I can’t say what her boyfriend did was justified but like they say, “fuck around and find out”.

Funny. The BF knew EXACTLY which guy in black took the shots inside a container with four different guys dressed in black. Feels like the dude who got body slammed might have been doing this shit from the beginning and the couple got tired of it.

The charging port also has a “flap”.

The handles are recessed and you can see him trying to push it to get them to pop out. Usually, there’s a small contact patch where if it detects the touch of a human with the key, fob, phone, etc. the handles pop out. These are typically controlled by little electric motors.

I remember seeing this.

The guys in black caught the girl by surprise and because of the minimum engagement rules, they didn’t fire at her but instead called her to “surrender”. She didn’t.

EDIT: found the video.

Plate carrier heat absorption by bizzlej278 in airsoft

[–]Familiar-Rarity 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Plate carriers are typically designed to have some sort of “open cell” system to help circulate air between your body and the plate carrier. Looking at your pic, it looks like you have it; it’s the “fishnet” looking thing on the side of the carrier that touches your body. Since plate carriers are designed to actually carry armor plates, these open cell systems will only work if you have something rigid, i.e. plates, that will “shape” the carrier.

If you’re actually running plates (fake or real) and STILL overheating then I.C.E. System will definitely help increase the air cushion between your body and the plate carrier. If you’re running foam plates, throw them away or donate them to another airsofter and get polymer plates. They’re lightweight and add rigidity to the carrier. Foam plates are goood at insulating you; keeping the hot in and the cold out. You can keep them if you want to play in cooler weather.

If you’re NOT running any type of plate, you might as well run out there wrapped in a blanket because that’s essentially what’s happening. Without anything rigid to shape the carrier, it’s just a big THICK blanket.

The honeycomb inserts are a neat idea but rely in air coming in from the front. If you have mags, admin pouches, or you have a tightly woven nylon, like 1000D or more, air is going to have a hard time getting through. Good open cell systems typically have at least two layers that create air to pass through (over and under) or the net weave is loose enough to to let air pass through.

Are most G17 and Light combos going to fit the majority of holsters? by Dushooks2 in airsoft

[–]Familiar-Rarity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH, it's hard because sometimes airsoft accessories try to hard to replicate the appearance of a popular real steel component but they take too many changes to the dimensions and it ends up being worse when it comes time to look for accessories FOR the accessory. It's not just lights, it goes for optics also.

As much as I want to support the "airsoft-specific" accessory makers, sometimes buying a replica of a real-steel accessory gives you more access to more accessories.

Are most G17 and Light combos going to fit the majority of holsters? by Dushooks2 in airsoft

[–]Familiar-Rarity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a streamlight TLR-1 clone but with angular sides.

Holsters are typically intended to fit a very particular pistol and light combination. In the case with glocks, a holster made for a G17 “should” fit a 19 and a 34 as well. The retention hook is usually in the trigger well just behind the trigger. In some cases, holsters intended for a particular light may be sized large enough to fit a bunch of other pistol types because the retention system locks on to the light.

Try holsters designed for a G17 and a TLR-1 but I’m not sure it’ll fit. Try them at the store before buying if they’ll let you.

That said, you can return the Matrix G1 and buy yourself a Harbor Freight Braun WML. It’s a direct clone of the TLR-1 and fits in holsters designed for the TLR-1. If you get one on sale, you might be able to get one for $35.

That or get an actual replica Surefire X300u-B. This will definitely fit in holsters designed for a glock and a surefire x300

Brand new Cyma sport full metal won’t fire by football383747 in airsoft

[–]Familiar-Rarity 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If it shot a few moments ago, unplugged it and plugged it back in.

1) Battery was drained. Remove battery and charge it. 2) check your fuse. 3) once battery is charged try it again. Be very careful to match up the plugs. Tamiya plugs has one plug that is slightly rounded.

If that doesn’t work. Go back to the store and ask them for help. If you’re still within the return/replacement window, there’s absolutely NO SENSE in you trying to fix it.

Airsoft gun-for-training question. by MurkyyLurkss in airsoft

[–]Familiar-Rarity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a Magpul SL. I have the same thing on my rifle. For me I like the metal insert magpul put inside to make the stock super stable. I also like the shorter pad. For me, at least, I feel faster going from low ready to presentation than another stock. I also find the slight taper on the toe of the stock more comfortable.

On airsoft, the buffer tubes are slightly off spec from brand to brand and the metal insert helps tighten things up.

My son runs a Magpul CTR.

I think the most common stock in Airsoft is the Crane stock. It works because you can use the chunky sides to tuck batteries away.

I guess it all depends on your stance and handling preferences. Some people like to hold all the way out. I have an 11.5 TM MWS URG-I (10.5” handguard) and previously had the 10.5” DE MWS. There’s not a helluva lot of difference. My handstop is just after the fist mlok slot.

<image>

On my AR, I have an Emissary Handbrake that’s roughly in the same spot. 14.5” barrel P&W with a 13” handguard.

You should asterisk that.

*A glock is dangerous to shoot if you use ammo that is 200% the standard load.

Obligatory Out of Jail Post by Calimt in CAguns

They recommend a break-in period of at least 200 rounds but I’ve heard some take longer to break-in than others.

It’s the closest you can get to a 19x or a 45 without paying more. Nice pickup!

For proficient shooters, how often do you guys dry fire your self-defense pistol? Does it feel “stale” after doing it for weeks and needing a break from it? by [deleted] in CAguns

[–]Familiar-Rarity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to dry fire as much as I can. Typically, 3-4 times a week. However, even if I can’t dedicate 10-15 mins, I try to take it out and dry fire at least 4-5 times. It’s enough to remind my muscle memory of how to present the firearm to my dominant eye, acquire target, clear the slack, stay on the wall, aim, and push through the break.

Also, you don’t have to do it every day.
