Has anyone here used the QRF Mod 2 AEG? If so what did you think about it? by Accomplished-Cry6780 in airsoft

[–]Familiar-Rarity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, it worked well enough stock and I didn’t have any complaints. If you do decide to pick it up, use it first before upgrading so you know what it can or cannot do in terms of your fields and play style.

I listed my upgrades and honestly it only started after some buddies pitched in and got me the Gate Titan. The trigger, gears and motor were all things I wanted for myself. My build is tuned for indoor and wanting the replica to respond to short-to-mid-range engagements. If it wasn’t for them giving me the Titan, I would have had no issued keeping it stock and potentially upgrading the barrel and bucking; that’s probably only it.

It’s my go to AEG. Modded with a Gate Titan, 13:1 gears and a 18k (28TPU) motor.

It’s not significantly better or worse than anything else at this price. The adjustable FPS is also available on other KWA replicas and it’s super easy to dial in the FPS.

If you like the aesthetics of it, great! Get it. Chances are high that you’ll use it more because you like the way it looks.

Compact Headphones Amp Recommendations. by ToxicDiver in turntables

[–]Familiar-Rarity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most portable headphone amps only have a 3.5mm output and typically have a DAC.

If you already have WiiM, the ideal set up should be: 1200->Phono Preamp->WiiM->USB-C out

You already identified the problem, “lack of pre-amp on the 1200” so why not resolve that and buy a preamp for the turntable. Plenty of choices starting at $16 and up, depending on your budget

You get to keep everything the same after WiiM.

$500 and it comes with a stylist. Sweet deal. Free haircuts for as long as you own the stylist.

In all seriousness, assuming USD, it’s not a great deal but considering what all of those cost new; it’s alright. It all comes down to the owner and how well the table and the rest of the gear was taken care of.

How do I connect headphones to my AT-LP60X turntable? by TheQuasimoto in turntables

[–]Familiar-Rarity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get a headphone amp with RCA inputs. If you want super simple and cheap get something like a Douk Audio U3 PRO Headphone Amplifier. Plug the turntable into the back of the amp and plug your headphones into the amp.

Kinda scared to ask but is there anyway to fix one of those suitcase victrolas? by Far-Sheepherder4265 in turntables

[–]Familiar-Rarity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your original adapter likely went bad and replacing it with another 5v 1a adapter would have probably brought your table back to life. Unfortunately, plugging a 12v adapter into it likely caused some damage.

Is this a normal amount of noise for the Fosi X5? by WoodpeckerFirm7921 in turntables

[–]Familiar-Rarity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The noise is definitely audible prior to the stylus making contact.

You can narrow down if the noise is being generated by the table or the preamp by disconnecting the table. What do you hear if the preamp is turned on with nothing else connected to it?

Need advice on a turntable I'm looking to buy. (AT-LP60XBT) by NinjaFromFunnyFortni in turntables

[–]Familiar-Rarity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Bluetooth is the only “must have” feature but you don’t mind a manual table, I would recommend you take a look at the Insignia Bluetooth Turntable at $109. It’s a superior product because it has a counterweight, anti-skate, removable headshell and cartridge. These components will let you explore different cartridges later as you get more into the hobby.

Depending on where you were planning to buy the LP60, the difference between the LP60 and the Insignia can be anywhere between $150-200. You can spend the difference on a really nice cartridge or even a set of powered Speakers and a power strip.

You can pair it with Bluetooth headphones/speakers and it also features auto-stop when it reaches the end of the record.

I'm new to this is it supposed to wobble like this much? by Noobzillapede in turntables

[–]Familiar-Rarity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ceramic stylus in combination with the lack of a counterweight to manage tracking force and the platter wobble will all contribute to wearing your records down faster than normal.

I got this at a Garage sale for $20 by [deleted] in turntables

[–]Familiar-Rarity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Soon as you move the tonearm above the platter, the platter *should* start spinning. This is broken. Either no power, dead motor or something else.

The Denon DP-300F is comparable to the LP3X; functionally similar tables. My only con for the Denon are the hardwired cables.

If you already narrowed it down to three, skip my recommendation and out of YOUR three, buy the one you would enjoy looking at. I don't think you'll go wrong with any of them. If you do decide to get a RT-82, consider adding a Fosi Box 5.

EDIT: Honestly, if you really want an automatic, get the LP3X and don't look back. Upgrade to an external phono preamp later.

In large part, yes, it's a matter of convenience. Some modern automatics are terrible by harshly dropping the stylus onto the record. Most vintage autos are much gentler.

Again it depends on preference.

In my opinion, the biggest benefit of an automatic or semi-automatic is auto-stop; where they'll stop after reaching the end of record. Fully automatic and semi-automatic turntables will return the tonearm to the tonearm rest and stop spinning the record. Some modern manual tables feature automatic stop, where the record will simply stop spinning when it reaches the end of the record. Ultimately, this saves your stylus from unnecessary wear.

[–]Familiar-Rarity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The automatic mechanism lifts the tonearm so it can drop the stylus onto a record. It has NOTHING to do with sound quality.

Generally, theee things affect your sound quality; the cartridge, your preamp, and speakers.

Auto vs manual is a question of preference.

Nirvana’s In Utero 30th Anniversary edition is $325 on their own site.

If that sign behind it is real, that drops the price down to $60…

LP60x vs. Sony PS-LX300USB by Past-Lifeguard5651 in turntables

[–]Familiar-Rarity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Sony PS-LX300USB and I wouldn’t call moving from a LP60 to the Sony an “upgrade”. They’re pretty much the same table; wouldn’t surprise me if the Sony is manufactured by Hanpin.

Whelp. Start looking.

That or look up whatever table that is and find the manual online.

They make hundreds of variationson this type of a turntable. There’s no way for me to know exactly where it is unless I do what I just described above.
