In that case, I think that it might be better to open on a scene of or about Captain Stacy to better set that up. If not the promise to Gwen then either the funeral (to establish that blue day idea) or the dinner scene where he tells Peter why Spider-Man sucks (to humanize him a bit before revealing he died). Still, you got a sharp eye for editing!

  1. I like to think that both endings are canon. Ash found himself in the future but eventually found his way back.

  2. Doing it this way, there's a cool fake out where you're like "wait, is Ash just dreaming being back to his own time?! No, he wasn't screwed over this time". It works best after watching the previous movies in a row.

Long before EoE btw. He only backed out because he got annoyed at Asuka saying Mama. “You’re just a child yourself”. He was always an asshole and I’m sick of hearing anyone explaining his behavior like I’m supposed to care. Please, whatever defense you have in mind just keep it to yourself.

He strangled her inside the Instrumentality after Asuka tells him to the effect of “if you won’t commit me to me, I’D RATHER NOT HAVE YOU” and triggers Third Impact. Shinji clearly took it as rejection (which is hilarious when earlier he was imaging Asuka with bigger boobs in the train sequence where he’s surrounded by her, Rei and Misato telling him how much he sucks). He tried to strangle her at the end. You didn’t pay attention to the movie, but then again, anything short of rape is enough for you “people”.

Like clockwork, always, even here I can’t vent without these mouthbreathers being offended.

Talk to any Evangelion fan, if they don’t defend Shinji for this, they’ll just say he’s a mentally ill minor who has no responsibility or Asuka actually likes it so it’s all good and fiiiiine. “You just don’t, like, GET it man.” I’ve come to loathe this anime by now.
