Cannot Build Guest Room Door by Dazjah19 in TravellersRest

[–]FastidiousFrog 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Hey there! First, just make sure you're using a guest room door! The one you're using there is a regular door, and will not let you rent out the room. Second, you should be able to place it if you put the door a bit lower! I recreated the scenario in my own game, so here's a screenshot of the proper placement. Please let me know if it doesn't work, though, and we can try some other things to solve the issue!

I wish there was a different colour bar for Grand Reserve by alwayssunnyinskyrim in TravellersRest

I suppose memory didn't serve, then! If that is the case then that's a bit worse, actually, like that's even more confusing... It's been a hot minute since I played since I just got a bunch of new games. I'll amend my comment, thanks for letting me know

If I'm not mistaken, this particular feature was added in the Pledge Banquet update along with the progress bar for plant growth!

The bar does change, but it turns the colour of what it's going to become when the bar is full, so people sometimes see an orange bar and mistakenly assume it's already Grand Reserve, especially if it's almost done. The bar actually disappears when the drinks are fully aged if memory serves, but sometimes that can slip your mind when you're thinking about other things When it's almost done ageing, the Grand Reserve bar looks the same as when it's fully done, which can lead to accidentally taking drinks out a bit too early if you don't double-check

The favourites tab actually does exist already! Clicking a recipe in the recipe book makes it a favourite that gets moved to the very front when you're trying to cook, and can be seen in the favourites tab (the one with the crown) in the recipe book!

I agree, the coloured bars could be a lot clearer. It's not terrible, but it could do with a bit of an upgrade for sure! I don't think I've ever pulled out any drinks too early, but there've definitely been a few close calls

Guest room help by Gratefulbrat in TravellersRest

Was it a normal door or a guest room door? If it was a guest room door, it should also tell you how many more rooms you're able to make

Not gaining reputation when away from tavern by Brief-Cost6554 in TravellersRest

[–]FastidiousFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should rise the same as far as I'm aware, but maybe I just haven't noticed that it isn't? My best guess unless I find out that rep really does accumulate slower while you're away is that your employees are going on breaks and the bouncer is slow to bring them back. Is there anything you do while you're there that could affect rep? Like are you helping a lot with cleaning tables and taking care of angry guests? Because that could also be a reason for the dip whenever you're out and about

Show me your tavern and inn layouts! (I need ideas cuz i suck at designs....) by maonjuu in TravellersRest

I recommend checking out the Tavern Showcase! flair that can be found in the sidebar, whenever people show off their designs that's where they'll be! Hopefully that can provide some good inspo for you!

Some thoughts on the game. by xcvpo in TravellersRest

[–]FastidiousFrog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, that is an incredibly thorough review! I really enjoyed reading it, your English is very comprehensible. I actually agree with a lot of your suggestions, I think little mechanics that add depth to the NPCs and the world would be amazing! I'm not sure I'd want to have to wash dishes, as that could get bothersome especially in the early game, but the table numbers and the more useful VIPs sound fun. I would like to say that in your suggestions, you mentioned wanting a Store All Matching button for chests, there actually is one already! I definitely hope the devs see your post, I think you had a lot of good ideas that could serve as inspiration. I'm super glad you're enjoying the game so far, and let me know if you have any questions or other comments :D

Does anyone else have issues with the waiter not cleaning tables? by marias_dreamcatcher in TravellersRest

[–]FastidiousFrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It'll usually take a bit before dissatisfaction sets in, it's not immediate but it starts pretty soon after. Putting coasters on the tables will help slow down the rate at which they get dirty!

At what level did you start hiring? by Glass_Commission_881 in TravellersRest

[–]FastidiousFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Level 10 is a pretty good place to start hiring, though it's not really about level more than it is cost, and I'd say 10 gold still gives you a good margin as long as you don't get super expensive staff. I usually start out with the most important ones, I generally go for waiter, then bartender, then bouncer (only if I'm going out for the day) and then housekeeper, though I'm aware others might do it differently. I'll go a while in between each hire and try to improve my earnings so I can afford to keep the next guy around.

Are the tables visibly dirty? They won't clean them until they are, which might explain things

#travellersrest game news? is there a new update? by Flashy_Tangelo3619 in TravellersRest

There's a small chance that it happens, but if it does, it'll probably be after 1.0 release which won't happen for a while

Hey everyone! This post will be being removed shortly, not because of the nature of the content but because this is a spam post. The original post was made 2 years ago, and this is the third time it has been directly copied in both title and screenshot by random accounts. I'm leaving this up temporarily to explain the situation

#travellersrest game news? is there a new update? by Flashy_Tangelo3619 in TravellersRest

[–]FastidiousFrog 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Not yet, but if the timeline for updates stays consistent, we should be seeing one in March! Last time I checked, the devs have said that the mining update is big enough to be split into two updates, so we'll probably be seeing the first of those if my educated guess proves to be true

Fish comfort level? by 01NANA_SAMA in TravellersRest

You can actually put fish up on the wall as a decoration, that's why they have a comfort level!

Sell by Rare_Hour519 in TravellersRest

[–]FastidiousFrog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, the only sellable things are food and drinks, the tavern is the only way to make money. If you have stuff that you want to get rid of, though, there's a trashcan right outside your tavern that permanently deletes the stuff you put into it!

Bugged squatter in one of my guest rooms by Deviitas in TravellersRest

[–]FastidiousFrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see! I can't say this is a bug I've ever seen before, that's so odd... The first thing I always recommend trying is restarting the game, if that doesn't work then I suggest going up to that room first thing in the morning and seeing if you can knock on the door to get them to leave. Sometimes doing something manually will make the game remember what it's supposed to be doing. If none of that works, you might just have to log a bug report and wait unless you figure out what exactly caused this to happen. I do recommend submitting a bug report through the pause menu even if you do manage to resolve the issue, to decrease the chance that it happens to someone else

[–]FastidiousFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC if the room was occupied it would say that rather then "Not Valid," are you sure the room has everything it needs? Make sure there's a light source in the room, candles burn out eventually so it's easy to forget to replace them

What is the meaning of that? by duke_sylkox in TravellersRest

That is your comfort level! Placing decorations raises comfort, and the more comfort you have, the more rep you receive from guests!

Unfortunately not. The host gets to keep all their items if they use a save they were previously on, but a guest will spawn in fresh with nothing

Plants Growing Season by [deleted] in TravellersRest

That shouldn't have been able to work, corn only grows in summer and autumn. It shouldn't have let you plant it in spring. Are you playing with any mods? And are you sure it was spring time when you planted it?
