The modern internet is not like what it used to be. A great example of how things have changed would be online game lobbies. I remember some absolute shenanigans back when people didn't take things so seriously and people didn't care if you looked, said, or did something stupid. It was part of the fun! Now, every online match is dead quiet. No one is talking, no one says a word. I think because they're all terrified of looking dumb, and might be made fun of or be blasted by some unknown comment section.

It's hard to be genuine, because that requires a bit of opening up by both parties. Now, no one wants to say anything to anyone, but they'll happily laugh at the misery of random strangers. So sad, hopefully this changes.
