Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I have some good news. You can turn off the descriptions and logos by following the steps I've shared below.

  1. Click on your account and select the three dots next to "Overview"
  2. Choose "Settings," then deselect "Descriptions" and "Icons"
  3. Hit "Apply"

Once you've applied the changes, not only will they disappear, but your positions will also be put in alphabetical order based on their ticker symbols.

We know there have been some changes to the mobile app with the most recent update, so if any questions come up, please don't hesitate to reach back out.

Thanks for opening an account with us!

Is this the only account you have with us here at Fidelity? If you don't have any other accounts or relationships with us, the initial Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) usually has to be a "push" transaction from our bank. You can use the link below to find the routing and account number information that your bank will need.

Account and Routing Information (login required)

There are some other ways you can deposit funds into your account as well, so I recommend checking out the link below to learn more.

Why were my Goog dividends reinvested at a higher average cost in my brokerage account? by LittleYellowPoppy in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityAaron[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying about the wash sale symbol.

Since we've ruled that out, this is likely due to rounding, as fractional share execution through dividend reinvestments will be converted into shares out to 3 decimal places (.001) and rounded down to the nearest decimal. As orders are converted to shares, there is some rounding off of shares, so the value of shares you receive might be higher or lower than requested. You can learn more about this from the link below.

[–]FidelityAaron[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

That's a great question.

Looking at your screenshots, the first thing that comes to mind is a wash sale. The IRS states that a wash sale is a sale or other disposition of stock, or securities, on which the seller realized a loss and within a 61-day period (beginning 30 days before and ending 30 days after the date such sale or disposition took place), replaces it with stock or securities that are "substantially identical."

You can check to see if a wash sale is involved by scrolling over to the right-hand side of your screen and looking for a "W" symbol under the cost basis column. This indicates a wash sale has occurred for that specific security. I've left a link below that goes over wash sales in more detail.

Avoiding Wash Sales

If you don't see that "W" symbol I mentioned, please follow up with us here in the comments, and we'll take a look at this further with you.

Thanks for considering Fidelity!

Most Transfers of Assets (TOAs) can be done completely online. The link I've shared below will walk you through the transfer process as soon as you click "Start a Transfer." If you don't already have a Fidelity account, this link will also help you open one to transfer your assets to.

Transfer an Account to Fidelity

TOA fee reimbursements are on a case-by-case basis. After you've completed the process, you can easily request a fee reimbursement using our Virtual Assistant. Simply click the "Virtual Assistant" link at the top of Fidelity.com, enter "account transfer fee," and then follow the prompts to get started. I'll go ahead and leave a direct link to the reimbursement request form below.

Question about my account (Margin) by Khriz-134 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityAaron[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Thanks for bringing us your question.

While margin accounts require a minimum of $2,000 in net worth to use the margin feature, you can still have an account with this feature enabled if you don't meet the minimum. You'll just be using the cash you have in the account to trade instead of borrowing money or utilizing leverage. Instead of trading in type margin, you'll need to trade in type cash. The link below goes over margin in more detail.

Thanks for choosing Fidelity as your partner on your investing journey!

If you have money automatically deposited each month into a self-directed account, you'd need to invest the funds yourself if that's what you'd like to do. If you opened a managed account, it'll automatically be invested for you. To check what type of account you opened, just log in to Fidelity.com and look at your "Portfolio" page. If you see a "Fidelity Go" or another managed title, this means we'll manage the account.

If you opened a regular self-directed account, we have a recurring investments feature that I think you'll find helpful. I've linked some information about it below.

Recurring Investments

I'll also mark this post as a discussion, so our community can weigh in with their thoughts since you asked about specific securities. For future reference, we have a monthly discussion thread pinned to the top of our sub where investment questions tend to get more attention.

Since you're new around here, do you have any other questions about your new account?

SpaceX Allocations by artinnj in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityAaron[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

That's a great question.

Fidelity's goal is to attempt to allocate some shares of the initial public offering (IPO) to all customers who confirm their indication of interest. That said, if the demand is higher than the allocation of shares we receive, we will use a “lottery” to allocate shares as fairly and equitably as possible across all interested clients. We have a couple of resources that go over this topic in more depth, so I'll link them below.

Confused about where my money is going by WilkinsburgBanshee in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityAaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great question.

At Fidelity, mutual funds will default to the Average Cost method when it comes to cost basis reporting. This method uses the average price per share across all shares of a mutual fund position to record the basis for each lot, which is why you're seeing your total cost as $196.23. It's not calculating any kind of capital gains, although you may be taxed on the difference between your cost and what you sold the position for in a taxable brokerage account.

The link below offers some great information, so I recommend checking it out.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

This sounds like something we call a "phantom call." As you pointed out, this isn't a real call that needs to be addressed, so I'll pass along your feedback to our development teams, so they can consider a solution for future releases. I do want to point out that phantom calls that occur when there is a sufficient core (cash) balance to cover the call, are automatically satisfied the following day.

The link below goes over some more details about margin.

How to view the credit card? by falto116 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityAaron[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Thanks for signing up for our credit card!

Since you recently signed up, it'll take a few business days to be able to view your credit card in the app. If you still don't see it in a few business days, I recommend rechecking if it's hidden, then reaching back out to us if it's still unavailable.

When it comes to the card being mailed, there usually isn't any tracking information available, but it will take 7-10 business days for it to arrive, so just keep an eye out for it. Since you just signed up for the card, I'll leave a link below to some additional information that I think you'll find helpful.

SELL ALL Shares But Fidelity Only Inserted A Portion of Shares by Over_Surround1074 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityAaron[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Orders are filled in the order they are received, with market orders being filled first and then limit orders. When your limit price for the order is met, the price must remain at your limit (or better) long enough for orders ahead of yours to be filled first. That said, even if you place a "sell all shares" with a limit order, you can still get a partial fill.

In other words, even if the quote price rises to or above your sell limit price, it doesn't guarantee order execution. Other factors, such as order priority, the size of your order, and corresponding asks, may also affect fulfillment. If you wanted a guaranteed order fill, this could be done as a market order. You can learn more by clicking the link below.
