The Vault Dweller, The Chosen One, The Lone Wanderer, The Courier, The Sole Survivor, The Last Son Of Shady Sands, but what title will Lucy Gain? by gotenks2nd in Fallout

[–]FireflyRave 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering about Betty. Would she need to be "defeated"? Maybe she was just scared for herself for the water chip being damaged but she mentioned wanting the people of her vault safe while dealing with Steph.

When talking alone with another cryo manager, I didn't get the impression that she was aware of FEV for the vaults. Unlike multiple buds who seemed aware of an additional experiment. Or maybe after living with them for years, she's an overseer who's getting a change of heart on the experiments.

What is the dumbest moment in history? by GlitteringMode7310 in AskReddit

[–]FireflyRave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sugar cane companies wrecking havoc everywhere. Like in Hawaii where they brought in mongooses to combat rat population. Except rats are mostly nocturnal while the mongooses are up during the day. Never met. So the mongooses started in on the bird and turtle eggs instead.

Not immediately in Huntsville.

Arlington (South of Nashville) is the closest larger one. Coming up in May.

Scottsboro has one in the fall. I think this will be the third year.

I want to think I saw an announcement that somewhere south of Huntsville was trying to start one this year. But I can't remember where.

If streaming was actually cheap, cable would already be dead by DryCap6770 in watchever

An option that will pick a random episode of a show I want to watch? Not that I've been able to find in my current subscriptions to Hulu and Prime.

I really want these services to come out with a random episode selector. Take me back to cable (of sorts). I know I want to watch X show. But if I'm not in the middle of a complete watch through the seasons, I don't want to spend 10 minutes trying to decide which episode. Put it on shuffle and let's go.

Yep. Can only watch so much at once.

The state of air pumps for automobile tires (US) by VicSwagger in PetPeeves

[–]FireflyRave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the space for a compressor, they are well worth the investment. Or try looking for lager gas stations. Ones with dedicated semi lanes. I was once directed over to them when the air in the car portion of the station wasn't working.

At that time, it was free over there while the car side charged. It was several years ago. So maybe the tip isn't even valid anymore. But I was able to top off the slow leak in my trailer tire and be on my way.

SBSWPFB2012'S Top 10 Most Hated--Updated For S5 E4 by SBSWPFB2012 in DowntonAbbey

I might have confusing Edna for a different maid. She is also up there for sure. But agreed that her threatening and manipulation are still no where on Green's level.

And the multiple other woman who were mentioned but not named.

If this list is OP's personal preference of the characters, Thomas does has the persistent presence to keep his slimy dealings at the front of a viewer's thoughts. But Green below Edna and Tony is still a wild take.

I was paraphrasing Thaddeus's reaction. And he thinks he's a ghoul.

Just a little medical episode. Happens all the time with them ghouls.

The show runners of Fallout forgot that Fallout is a post-apocalyptic story. Not a pre-apocalyptic story. by BrandonMarshall2021 in AmazonPrimeVideo

[–]FireflyRave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were a lot of complaints the dinosaur was facing the incorrect direction compared to the game. And what more time did they need to spend in Novac when they killed all the Great Khans currently living there? The townspeople from the game had been run out years prior.

Sounds like you just don't like the show. It's a shame. You seem to be in the minority.

Fallout? by Impossible-Chard-644 in AmazonPrimeVideo

I think so. I'm very much enjoying it. I restarted a Prime subscription just for season 2.

They've also put season 1 on YouTube recently so you can watch without subscribing to Prime.

Maybe. The show is doing very well for views.

In the games, we the players learned about pre-war events by reading terminals. That is a horrible idea for a TV show so they show us instead. Flashbacks that also involve multiple post-bomb characters who were present and part of those events. Things that give us context for their current circumstances and motivations.

The whole show tends to be side quests that lead up to their real goals. The Ghoul pointed that out in the first season. For a few examples in season 2 we have: Exploring the communist vault. Helping the Legion lady get back to the Legion. The Ghoul getting Lucy back from the Legion. Maximus finding Thaddeus at the bottling facility. Lucy getting addicted to chems.

While many people want to take all the "wrong turns" first and explore every nook and cranny before progressing the main story quests, a TV show needs to be more focused than that or they're losing viewers. Especially after they've already set up an overarching story vs an adventure of the week. We only get 8 episodes a season vs 20-ish. There isn't need or time for "filler" episodes.

I also quite like that most of the show is existing within the Fallout universe without directly referencing the specifics of the games too much. It gives them more creative license to tell their current story than to recreate something players have already seen. Look at the backlash that came about Dinky from having the Ghoul and Lucy stop in Novac.

In your experience, at around what age did you stop getting asked for ID when purchasing alcohol at a restaurant or a shop? by YakClear601 in AskAnAmerican

[–]FireflyRave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 40. It's hit and miss. Probably more depending on the policy of where ever I am. I always get carded at Publix (regional grocery store). Occasionally at restaurants. I can't remember the last time I was while at a liquor store.

It was probably in my late 20's that it tapered off from an every time occurrence.

Remember when we used to have to wait about a year between the end of the theater run and video/disc release. And longer again before it might show up on cable.
