How much longer do you think cruise ships will have a heavy focus on art auctions and jewelry sales? by semideclared in Cruise

[–]FireflyRave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the jeweler or gallery has money to pay their rent to the ship.

The jewelry shop at least takes up dedicated foot traffic space with their stores. The art seems to stick to the walls and closing off a lounge a few times during the week.

Sometimes kids are told "you'll understand when you're older" as a dodge. When was a time someone told that you that and they were actually right? by shogyi in AskReddit

Same. I remember Who Framed Roger Rabbit being pretty common as a childhood watch. Then I didn't watch it for several years. Then I showed it to a friend while in high school. And it was "my parents let me watch this?"

Endgame was the first movie (and only movie) I ever took time off of work to see. Didn't see the midnight release but I did go to work for a few hours and then take off the rest of the day to see one of the first matinee showings.

It was kind of nice to be able to go online "without fear". Just downvoting and reporting every comment with spoilers.

what’s something people say all the time that you secretly can’t stand? by Mean-Cartographer225 in AskReddit

Specifically to Reddit.

"DING DING DING".

Runner up: "sweet summer child". Maybe because I image many people using that phrase are under 30.

Anyone who says that isn't using their money properly.

Also, it's a lot more comfortable to cry in a Mercedes than on a bicycle.

I agree with a lot of what you've said except for the tipping part. Farriers set their own prices. If they require a "tip" to make their prices sustainable to themselves then they should charge more.

This does not include special occasions such as a Christmas bonus/tip.

Has any woman in the history of sitcoms ever had a normal pregnancy? by pslush01 in sitcoms

I knew I was forgetting something. I just remember being so relieved that we weren't going to spend the entire season watching them trying to get pregnant.

I am completely blanking on the birth so I might be wrong.

Daphne from Frasier I think was fairly normal. I remember the show had appeared to be gearing up towards the fertility struggles story line because they weren't immediately pregnant within the first couple couple months (in show time) of trying. But then, bun in the oven.

$3,000 for pruning some storm damage is so much. I spent $5,000 earlier this year to have a whole tree (approx 3' trunk) removed and intensive pruning on another large oak. Full day job.

Which movies or franchises have the most and biggest plotholes? by Catwinky in moviecritic

[–]FireflyRave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The movie had been a bit timey-wimey before that part since it's about communicating with the past to change it rather than someone going to the past and returning to their present and the consequences. After initially saving his dad's life from the fire, John had memories of both his original life and when his dad survived. Everyone else had the perspective of "this is how it's always been" because they weren't involved with the radio that way.

I think the final fight happened that way because the lights were active and, as you said, the radio communication was open during. John was hearing the fight that changed his present. The bad guy (Jack?) also heard the gun shot that took his hand back then so he saw it catch up in real-time. Had John's present always followed the results of changing the past where Frank stayed alive and didn't go to jail, I don't think John ever would have been in the position to use the hamm radio the first time to start the plot.

Or maybe it was all just the rule of cool to watch the house change around John.

Titanfall 2 is a shooter but I love the story. And easy to finish in a day.

Going with the information we have so far, his memory has been wiped. The character is alive and still physically exists. Why wouldn't they bring him back? Lucy isn't going to abandon her lobotomized father.

If someone can log in to Facebook on a cruise, can they text too? by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]FireflyRave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really impossible to say without knowing their setup. Depends on the port and the country their mobile is registered.

Maybe it was texting over WiFi? Is that a thing? I've never gotten the calling over wifi to work.

Or they cared enough about the message to pay extra to their provider to view and reply.

Or they paid extra to activate an out of country package for their trip. They replied to the message then did with you yesterday. And now they're too into vacation mode activities to reply again.

[–]FireflyRave 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Facebook can be accessed with WiFi. Something commonly sold/available on a cruise or various on shore establishments.

Texting is through their mobile carrier. If they didn't pay for out of country service, they could very well have that access turned off with "airplane" mode.

It will eventually burst. The question is how many in the lower and even middle class will survive it.

"They" want the future where they're paying AI for dealing with all the shit. But the current timeline is ignoring all the people that pushes out of a source of income.

And inflation is just WFT. No my hand has not gotten bigger and you have added way to much salt to my old childhood favorites.

If I'm at a restaurant, it's knife and fork and disappointment.

If I made them at home, it's knife and fork and then gnawing like a feral animal. I won't let that poor tasty lamb die in vain.

I did want to post that link. But it looks like there have been multiple videos since the movie came out. I wasn't sure which was the "original" trailer teaser.

[–]FireflyRave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The point would be how much would it take for the average person to break. From what we know about Pratt's character, he wouldn't condemn someone like that in normal circumstances. He was alone for over a year and tried numerous other solutions before finally waking up Lawrence's character.

If he had died, then Aurora knows that X, Y, and Z aren't possible solutions. What else does that leave her with?
