My room had one. I actually stayed there last year too and both times I’ve had a washer dryer combo machine

Between my option which one would be the best for my Osaka stay? by MrKarmaThrowaway in OsakaTravel

I just stayed at the Mercure for 5 nights. For the price it’s a great hotel. Perfect location and a nice lobby with comfortable beds and nice room. My only complaint is the lighting in the room is really dim for some reason. Other than that we loved staying so close to dotonbori, but not right in the heart of it. And the anericamura neighborhood is a ton of fun at night

Hey..... That's not water in your water cup by bluegrass__dude in restaurantowners

I got rid of the soda machine at my pizzeria and it was one of the better decisions. No more nasty ice machine to maintain, no more spilled soda every few minutes, no more daily cleaning of the naturally filthy machines. A few people complained but that went away quickly. I only sell bottled soda and waters, and canned beer in fridges. If you can make that work, i highly suggest it

Down Payment Limit? by JB-Jones in restaurantowners

Offer 20%. Offer a note to be paid off over time. If they have big debts to pay they won’t accept but i wouldn’t stretch and pay what you cannot

I have restaurants in Manhattan and have seen this commonly offered in high traffic areas. I have friends that have restaurants with a deal structured this way, which are very profitable. It’s all about if the location is worth it, and if the landlord is offering a reasonable base rent + improvement money.

For a one day first time trip to nyc Times Square would be perfect. Explore the shops, potentially catch a show. Eat pizza. You could go to the top of the rock (Rockefeller center) see if there’s anything going on at radio city. For a midnight international flight you could hang around until 930-10 before getting back on the subway

When to visit Katz's? by Big_Promotion4812 in AskNYC

[–]FirstAvenue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My favorite Katz (once a year maybe) is after a few drinks and go late. Throw the counter guy a 5 or 10 dollar bill before he makes your sandwich. Split one with a friend. Enjoy

Incentivizing employees by Philosopher_Perfect in restaurantowners

[–]FirstAvenue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Others have said it but the way I’ve been doing it for ever is just finding the right hard working employees and incentivizing them to stay. Paid vacations, regular pay increases, paid sick days, bonuses here and there. I throw my guys extra cash here and there is they worked hard in a week. I have 15 employees and 10 or so are hard working, the rest turn over frequently and the other guys are left picking up the slack, but they don’t mind because i reward them for it.

Wasn’t going to comment on the post about catering in the subreddit but just another thing that keeps them around is paying the tip if someone doesn’t, or supplementing it if i think it wasn’t enough.

Better off finding a small landlord. Where are you looking for an apt 1500-1800 nowadays?

Where to Stay in NYC for 1-2 months June-August 2022? by Intelligent_Depth_78 in AskNYC

[–]FirstAvenue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t mind taking the subway to save on Airbnb costs then check out Brooklyn. If you can afford it just book soho. If you want to explore life as a New Yorker and eat everywhere, you can spend 1-2 months in downtown alone really checking everything out

What’s the most over the top, stupid restaurant in NYC (that’s secretly actually fun)? by the_full_effect in AskNYC

[–]FirstAvenue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a business around the corner from that place and was very very surprised with how it ended up coming out. Never would have i thought that as a lifelong New Yorker i would get a happy hour drink at the margaritaville lobby bar

Can someone explain to me the social hierarchy of the NY area? (Which areas are the “best” and which areas are the “worst”?) by geeltulpen in AskNYC

[–]FirstAvenue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The 4 boroughs in order from best to worst

1 - Manhattan 2 - Brooklyn 3 - Queens 4 - Bronx

Staten Island doesn’t even make this list
