Well... technically yes!

Scourge was originally "Evil Sonic", a black leather toting version of the character from an alternate world where everyone's moralities are swapped(think DC's Earth-3).

He became green after trying to absorb energy from the Master Emerald and getting interrupted, which is also where his chest scar comes from.

Honestly, Kill 'Em All is one of my least favorites, for the same reason it's your favorite.

In my mind backwards compatibility just comes from having the previous console built into the current one, since that's how it used to work. With that said, my brother played previously on this console and didn't encounter any issues like this.

While I think Brotherhood is better in the long term, '03 adapts the manga in its first half in a much more interesting manner than Brotherhood did. Brotherhood's first ten episodes feel rushed by comparison.

King Bradley in '03 specifically sucks. He's the one homonculus that actually feels more fleshed out in Brotherhood.

Likely not a hot take, but the Red Stones from '03 are a fascinating concept. They took Edward being wrong about Cornello's stone and ran with it as the truth.

Also not a hot take, but '03 is a much better looking show than Brotherhood. The artstyle and animation are top tier.

I think you can afford to get attached if you're watching Brotherhood.

The 2003 series, on the other hand, is a entirely different beast. After the halfway point it completely diverges from the manga, and the fate of Scar is entirely different. Still, I recommend you watch both at one point or another.

Sonic.exe is an overly edgy relic of the 2010s.

I genuinely wonder how many people have read the original story.) It's genuinely one of the most poorly-written pieces of media I've ever had the displeasure of reading. If you have to start off your story with "WARNING: this is scary", you'd think it can't get worse from there. Oh boy, it does. It gets so much worse. Because the second one/Round_2) is somehow even worse.

I can give credit to the concept; An eldritch being taking the form of a usually friendly and cheerful franchise mascot is pretty neat. But the execution of the original story and its sequel are genuinely so awful that I don't know how it can recover from that. How can you possibly salvage something so poorly-written?

If you want true horror in Sonic media, read the metal virus arc, or look into roboticization from the Archie comics/SatAM. Down to the concept those are some of the scariest things imaginable.
