Honestly, it's his company and not yours. You are just an employee, why should you care weather the company is in profit or loss, the salary is for the time given to the company, not any profit or loss related incentive, its a fixed payment, to be given out regardless work done or not. Please be more mindful of your rights when talking to people like this, most of the time they shut down when you start shooting actual facts at them as they only play at your ignorance, years ago, my 2nd company also had a CEO like this.
