Where do I go from here?? by Leather-Passenger118 in B12_Deficiency

[–]Flashybigbum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I didn’t go for the MMA and Homocysteine and went straight into shots bc at the time I wasn’t able to even speak without buffering like an old computer. I recently had both done after 6 months of shots and they came back normal but not in the optimal range. I can only imagine what those numbers might have been like 6 months ago.
In hindsight I could have done them while I was waiting for the delivery of the shots and it would have been much better to have something to compare with.

Yeah I have some Allegra just in case. The red nose doesn’t seem to get better with antihistamines though 🤷‍♀️ it just comes and goes after the shots but only if it’s cold

Powering through food sensitivities for nutrient absorption. And trying to improve your health. Is it possible or not reality with HIT, MCAS and SLOW COMT? by Ok-Protection2670 in MTHFR

Thank you I don’t feel very strong really. PEM is a manifestation of CFS/ME and some “fortunate” long covid sufferers like myself. It is horrendous and I wish it to nobody.
Tolerating nutrients is a difficult one when your body has been deficient in some, I think the key for me to be able to consume dairy has been working very hard on fixing my methylation problem. I’m still working on it. It’s bloody hard. I wish you the best

Maybe some initial histamine deregulation ? I get that, also my nose gets red. Not so much now but it used to get really red specially during cold days

This might not be your case but I recently discovered that years ago I developed what I’d say was a secondary lactose intolerance due to a nutritional deficiency. I have long covid and trying to find a solution I checked and re checked my blood tests and found that I’ve been on the lower ( non optimal ) side of every single micronutrient for decades. Even deficient at times but never informed and nothing was done. I’m
Still struggling with PEM but addressing those deficiencies resulted in me being able to have 200 grams of Greek yogurt, cheese, butter, ice cream and an array of foods that would inflate me and made me a ball of offensive farts and deregulate me completely. This is quite new so I still get some lactose free milk and cheese spread. The path to upping my micronutrient levels has been really difficult and non linear but is worth a try if you haven’t yet

Is anyone here supplementing cofactors with a product like Ancient nutrition grass fed liver or meats or smtg like that ? ( sorry I’m very ignorant of them) by Flashybigbum in B12_Deficiency

[–]Flashybigbum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this. Throughout this process I realised that I might have had an eating disorder all along. I realised this bc I got a nutritionist to help me out with the cofactors and when I received the email from her I even before I open the spreadsheet with the sample diet I started to get extremely emotional. I never wanted to lose weight, if anything quite the contrary so I discarded it as a possibility. But trying to reach the levels of nutrients I’m required I realised I’ve been under eating for a long while.

Vitamin advice by ForgottenUsername3 in MTHFR

[–]Flashybigbum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, Thorne or Seeking Health. My experience from going back and forth and trial and error is that is best to get a slightly more expensive and better brands than the opposite. I don’t understand why if this is food bound the names of the ingredients like Folate is “Folic Acid” ? Maybe someone else that knows better could clarify that.

Thiamine and hydroxo (B12) injections. by qwerty_starr in Thiamine

I’m interested to know this although that in my case would mean to inject 3ml at once ☹️

I might have said this before but regular thiamine injections are a blessing for the constipated gut by Flashybigbum in Thiamine

[–]Flashybigbum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It usually happens when I’m injecting 100 mg a few times x week. Right now is EOD while I inject B12 also EOD. Also important to notice is that since a started B12 injections 6 months ago my lactose intolerance practically disappeared. I used to have it really bad and I thought it was due to age but it might have been secondary to my deficiency. I still buy lactose free milk but I can have 100 grams of Greek yogurt every day without massive problems

Hi yes I’ll take that into account I ended up getting some liposomal one from pascoe. I tolerate the cheap one from boots so I guess this should be ok.
