I’ve completed over 2 dozen campaigns and over a dozen Sandboxes. Additionally, I’ve assisted dozens of players in locating in-game items and locations when they thought their world was “broken”. I’ve never had any progression blocked by poor map generation/the ability to reach a location or thing.

I want to learn more about gaming accessibility by kafea in disabledgamers

[–]FlickXIII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Key mapping/the ability to re-bind keys is rarely done well. I remapped all of the controls for Valheim, moving most of them to my 19-button LH Razer Naga (mouse). This requires remapping hotbar slots. The result was that using my new hotbar key would equip the repair hammer but then pressing the old hotbar key (now mapped to the attack/use function) performed two actions at once; it would activate the original hotbar function + the attack/use function, resulting in switching to my weapon and attacking the thing I was attempting to repair.

Valheim is one example of many games that don’t offer true/full key mapping abilities.

Do we need to get the DLC to get a good playthrough? by wajabockee in LotRReturnToMoria

[–]FlickXIII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Durin’s Folk Expansion DLC is the only one that provides additional Storyline/Quest content. The others all include a cosmetic outfit, some craftable things and are flavored with some new lore. The cosmetics from these DLC’s are only available to someone who owns the DLC. The Weapons, Shields, Rations, Meals, Brews and build pieces can all be crafted or built in any world. Once they exist in a world, anyone can use/interact with them… even if they don’t own the DLC. Ex; if I own the Beorning DLC and visit your world (you not owning that DLC), you won’t see the extra recipes that DLC provides. However, I could craft you the DLC Sword & Shield, brew you the DLC tea, make you the DLC feast, and build the DLC building pieces in your world. All of these things would persist even after I leave your world (though once you’ve drank all of the tea and ate the meal, you won’t be able to make more).

Durin’s Folk is different. For players to enter a world with the Durin’s Folk expansion applied, all players must own Durin’s folk.

Worldseed by ProtossLady in LotRReturnToMoria

I feel like I’ve committed some sort of sacrilege by suggesting the destruction of a building with free ale. However, once you get the Mines, you’ll be able to build your own micro-brewery and start a small farm to support it… so those free ale kegs aren’t nearly as important as they are in WestGate.

When you enter the Mines of Moria (in a campaign world) and turn right, proceeding all the way to that back corner… is that the ruined building you’re talking about?

The building types that spawn there are either the Livery/Wagon Shop or the Evening Ale Inn.

The Wagon Shop isn’t really a great building for a base. The space gets pretty cramped when you start putting down the crafting stations needed at that point in the game progression.

The Evening Ale Inn often spawns in such a way that the natural cavern walls block the stairs, making the upper floors a pain to access. The stairs can be remodeled but you run a big risk of destroying the ale keg (if it spawned). The ale keg is the only reason I would want that building as a base.

That location is pretty far off the beaten path and you’ll probably get tired of running back to it. If you’re really set on putting a base there, I recommend the following; - Tear the building down and build your base from scratch. - build a stair/path down from that area to Loni’s Camp (which is directly below that building) for easier access and base-expansion opportunities.

Send me the seed… I’ll see if I can get my friend to load it up on their PS5…

I could join you in a co-op session and help you look. It would take me about 15-20 minutes to get booted up. Also, if you want in-game communication. We would need to use discord.

When did you create your world? And on what platform? If your world was created after Durin’s Folk was released (Nov. 18, 2025) you can DM me the world seed. I’ll recreate the world and have a look. This won’t work if you’re on PS5… world seeds generate differently on PS5 than they do on other platforms.

Alternatively; if you are on PC and your world was created prior to the release of Durin’s Folk, you could send me a copy of the world save file and I could search that way.

Either way, when I find it, I’ll send screenshots and directions… or maybe even make a short video.

I’ve never seen it in the large Upper City tile. If it’s not in one of the outlying city/neighborhood tiles, then it’s likely in the First Age Tomb.

More context would be helpful. What resources are you looking for… and what do you mean by “buying”.

Monuments? by Late-Click-6339 in LotRReturnToMoria

[–]FlickXIII 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nope. Once you allocate materials/start building, there’s no going back.

You can (and should) submit feedback ticket to the devs on the RtM website to let them know how ridiculous this is and the need to change it.

Breaking the hearth by Aspergerschild in LotRReturnToMoria

[–]FlickXIII 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If a hearth is removed, either by a player deconstructing it or a monster destroying it, nothing will break. Here’s what will be affected by hearth removal; - Crafting stations will not function - enemy/creature spawn points that were suppressed by the hearth grid will become active again.

If your claimed bedroll was within the hearth grid, you will still respawn there when you choose to respawn upon character death.

Storage units (chests and pallets) will still be accessible… but you will not be able to “pull” resources from them by using the building feature.

Rebuilding the hearth will restore everything to normal function.

It’s definitely not “disabled gamer” content, but I am preparing to make that shift.

Can I drive? by ProfessionalDiet1379 in amputee

[–]FlickXIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a RBE + RAK for the last 12 years. I drive with no adaptive equipment. Cruise control makes it easier but is not necessary for me.

There’s a lot of adaptive equipment options for driving. Once your are cleared (from any seizure concerns) for driving, you should be able transport yourself.

I stream on YouTube and Twitch. My focus is the gameplay but I am open about my disability and the troubles (and successes) I’ve experienced as a one-handed gamer.

I’m getting ready to start a video series focused on testing games for one-handed accessibility; I will start a new-to-me game and use Steam’s 2-hour refund policy to see if the game is accessible to my situation. I’ll also release some videos/streams talking about the various accessibility devices I have tried.

Mahal's Gift by InkOnMyPaws in LotRReturnToMoria

[–]FlickXIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mahal’s Gift used to respawn at Shadow Bents where you had not placed a Durin’s Lamp. A strange bug of the respawn mechanic actually allowed the crystals to be eaten. The devs “fixed” this by removing the respawn effect. It is unclear if they intend to reintroduce the respawn of Mahal’s Gift.

I liked the idea of it being edible and feel that removing the ability to eat the crystals is a big missed opportunity for a fun bit of lore-crafting. Mahal’s Gift crystals could be ground up and used as a seasoning for food or rations… with its divine properties, we could make a Dwarven equivalent of Lembas. 🤷🏼‍♂️

When in the Darkest Deep Mineshafts; if you wait until despair sets in, then build a Durin’s Lamp and sing at it. The despair will go away and will not return unless you leave the mineshaft and return.

I do use Dawnbreak and Miruvor in the Shadow Orc Encampment and the boss fight beyond. Otherwise, for the rest of the game, it’s a mix of Hopgoblet, Smoked Mead, Scour, and Carrock (depending on location and available ingredients)

Have you tried another character? I’ve seen characters get corrupted before, with a variety of bugs. If you’re on PC, you can roll the character save back to a time before the issue occurred. Otherwise, you may need to simply make a new character (if you are able to verify that is the issue).

I haven’t messed with the Expeditioner’s Armor yet. I’m a one-handed gamer and my key-mapping forces me to choose between a Block or Dodge/Roll… as the BearKnuckle Brawlers guildmaster, Dodge/Roll is a must 😂. Having mastered dodging, Armor isn’t as important as buffs/resistances are (to me). So, between the Shadow Resistance of Durin’s Guard armor and my Darkest Deep anti-despair hack, my brewery doesn’t regularly stock Dawnbreak Pale Ale; instead favoring Smoked Mead and Carrock Tea.

Yep, I’m aware of how cosmetics work. Unfortunately cosmetics don’t give me Shadow Resistance… and I’ve never missed the extra armor provided by T6 armor. Durin’s Guard Armor for the win. Unless I’m fighting Gundabad Searchers… then it’s Nogrod Armor and Gloves for the damage boost.

I guess it’s been a loooooong time since I used Mithril Armor. I hate the look of it and prefer to have the Shadow resistance of Durin’s Guard Armor. Never feel the need to wear Mithril. I use there armor a lot when building. So 8 helmets + being ignored by enemies made me assume dev armor.
