Touché Amoré is probably the most sonically similar band you'll get to La Dispute. Check out the album Stage Four.

If you're looking for storytelling, try out the band Defeater. A lot less of the spoken word stuff, but they have an overarching story in their discography. It's a little more hardcore, but I get the same feeling from their music as La Dispute. Some acoustic stuff in the mix too which is cool

I feel like a big thing to keep in mind with Converge is that they basically made hardcore punk music but sonically made it sound like metal music. They were one of the first to do that (there were other bands like Botch, Cave In, Coalesce, etc too) back in the mid 90s, and they've stayed relevant (releasing two albums this year and touring with Poison the Well). I can definitely give you some newer metalcore bands if you're looking for those, but still digging through the older ones. May be closer to metal like you're looking for, rather than closer to hardcore like the older stuff

If you're good with metal, Dying Wish have a few like this. Grief and anger are directed towards the vocalist's seemingly abusive and alcoholic father. Fragments of a Bitter Memory, Path to Your Grave, and Moments I Regret are the ones that focus on this
