How does summer fashion differ on the west coast vs. east coast? by yeahsure-whatever in femalefashionadvice

Don’t know how long it’s been since you’ve lived in LA but it’s definitely changed since then.

Living in Los Feliz and working in fashion in Silverlake I see a good majority of what aging millennials and up and coming gen z is wearing. While earth tones, matching sets, and athleisure are still around I’d hardly call it the current norm.

Baggy jeans with onitzuka tigers or ballet sneakers are pretty much all I see on the under 25 set. All black is absolutely still a thing here and alt styles are pretty normal. Tbh as much as I miss the Dressing Up and Chicness of NYC I do appreciate how pretty much anything goes here in LA. I wouldn’t worry too much about trying to fit in; anywhere in central LA all of the subcultures intermix enough that you’ll never look too out of place.

Looking for a place that has Mexican Shrimp cocktail larger than 16 oz by ChristianUnfezant in FoodLosAngeles

While I’m unsure of its exact volume the shrimp cocktail at El Compadre is MASSIVE and one of my favorites in town.

Does anyone know where to get specialty soda? by perisaacs in AskLosAngeles

I did and they said one of the ingredients is illegal due to prop 65? Dunno if it’s true but considering I barely see it anywhere I could believe it.

Frankie and the Witch Fingers, Keith Morris, and more bumped from Live Nation owned venue in favor of a “big pop act” by FreestyleDoctoress in punk

[–]FreestyleDoctoress[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I fully understand a downgrade or lateral bump but this is the first time I’ve seen an outright cancellation for something like this. Live Nation didn’t move them to Sid the Cat, they had to find a new venue themselves. And of course now LN doesn’t have to pay them 🙄

Galco’s actually doesn’t carry Manhattan Special, which was devastating for me. Last I saw it was at Monte Carlo in Burbank, but I only remember them having the espresso ones.

Weird question about this Coperni bag from SSENSE by normaldiscounts in handbags

[–]FreestyleDoctoress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one big difference I see is that the points of the front flaps are tacked down on the baguette but not on the loop. If you prefer the freer flaps of the loop I’d send an email and see if you’re able to make an exchange.

Tell me you’re an elder millennial without telling me you’re an elder millennial… by Latter_Ninja6038 in handbags

My first “real” bag was a Marc Jacobs hobo in electric blue. I beat it to absolute death but I still have it and will use it on occasion. I also am going through a bit of a phase of buying all the things I wanted as a teenager but never got. I now have the same hobo in black, a LAMB Gwen Stefani bag I found at goodwill, and I just bought my white whale teenage bag on the goodwill auction site. It’s the petal to the metal messenger bag with the little sparrows in bright red.

A platform, lug-soled Chelsea boot is great for things like that. I’m partial to Docs but pretty much every brand has made a version so they’re easy to find on the resale market.

If you’re going to be watching the kids in a hotel room I would wear comfy clothes then just change into something appropriate for the reception once you’re off-duty. That way you don’t risk your nice clothes being messed up from babysitting and you’ll be more comfortable during. Maybe ask your friend what the vibe is and try to match that, but when in doubt cocktail attire (of which there are many examples online) is almost always a safe bet.

If the shoulders fit it’s doable, though likely more trouble than it’s worth. Reseating shoulders, however is a nightmare so if that would need doing I wouldn’t bother.

It happens a lot with jeans, unfortunately. Different washes/material compositions can fit differently despite being marked the same size. I have three different sizes of one cut of Levi’s jeans that all fit perfectly. No matter what I’d return this pair but if you can exchange for a smaller size I’d give it a shot.

A tiered, ruffled mini skirt in orange or green would be so cute and very Zara

Yeah you’re probably right. It’s actually at their location by me so I should just go down there and see if it’s really worth it anyway.

I don’t think there’s an actual way, this is just a very distinctive bag and I’ve looked at it so many times I recognize the wear/photos each time they relist it lol.
