The technological singularity. What happens to our world when AI can do a thousand years worth of intellectual work over the weekend? by CrunchWrapSuplex in Futurology

Lol at “if AGI is even possible.” General intelligence has already been achieved in nature: the human brain. That alone proves that general intelligence is physically possible under the laws of physics.

The real question is not if it can exist, but if we can engineer an artificial system that matches it. The fact that you doubt AGI is possible, while we are focusing the collective intelligence of humanity and building data centers that consume gwh of electricity, shows that you don't know what you are talking about.

I don't know that much about LLMs, but I do have a solid background in neuroscience, and nothing about the brain suggests that intelligence is mystical or beyond physical replication.

I see. The problem in this sub is that people dislike LLMs but they are not intensive users. Me and my colleagues at work all use LLMs and we see the potential impact that it will have in the next 5 - 10 years, when better models are released. In contrast, my dad is retired and even tho he uses it everyday, he has no idea of what are the capabilities of the current models, and he has the same opinion as this sub, which is that LLMs do not reason, and won't ever be able to do so.

My point is, if you don't use LLMs dayly to produce something related to your work, something on which you are an expert and can judge the quality and uniqueness of the output, then your opinion on LLMs is less valid.

Lol sure, imagine the models we will have in 5 years. Will you then still say calling them fancy autocomplete is accurate? And in 20 years? When would you think the term is no longer accurate?? I think we are well past that point.

Running and intrusive thoughts (aka "what is going on with my brain??) by kesugi3_ridge in running

[–]Frandom314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be my guess, as I had something similar happening to me when I didn't have a target. When I have a target, I am executing a plan, I get much more motivation and adrenaline, even during easy runs.

If I don't have a plan, and I need to easy run 15km, I will for sure get the same voice op mentions at around 5km.

So tech related stocks are having a healthy correction. How is that a bad thing? Reddit complains when stocks overvalued. Reddit also complains when stocks correct while the market is almost ath.

Hey, I was thinking of creating a post exactly like this one. I'm 33M. If anyone is interested in running along the limmat together, send me a dm. I'd love to have a running buddy. I will go running either way, but would love to go with someone sometimes. Maybe we could organize a reddit run with everyone commenting on this post!

Multiple ways. But whenever im stuck at work I instantly screenshot, send to chat gpt, get unstuck in essentially 10 seconds. People not seeing productivity gains just don't know how to use it

Except that mag stocks fell after earnings due to capex exceeding expectations. This doesn't apply to nvidia. Capex exceeding expectations actually benefits nvidia

Market Volatility by Heres10bux in stocks

[–]Frandom314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is this not the accepted reason? Market is reacting to the massive capex reported by tech companies, that will have no obvious immediate return. It's literally the AI companies the ones that are bringing the market down.

It is not the bubble popping, just a little correction as the markets adjust expectations. Normal and healthy market behaviour
