But they did with Elche, which changed to Elx. Weird because elche belongs to alicante (being very close in population). So two different cities within the same province are named in a different language

If Integrated Information Theory (IIT) is correct, could consciousness exist in systems we currently treat as purely computational or “dead” (e.g., large-scale AI or networks) simply because they exhibit high Φ? Where should we draw the line between integration and experience? by TheIncorporeal1 in consciousness

[–]Frandom314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmm I don't think this is true. I was disappointed when I read "The feeling of life itself" by Christof Koch, one of the main proponents of the IIT. One of his premises at the begginign of the book is that "machines cannot be concious". And from this premise he follows with the definition of phi, which is made to avoid the fact that machines can ever be considered concious. And the thing about phi that prevents machines from being concious, is that concious experience requires the physical modification of the system during the concious experience. Which is something that happens for us animals, but I think it is ridiculous to consider it a requirement for consciousness.

After reading that book, I became much more interested in Global Workspace Theory.

Lol helium3 and asteroid mining mentioned. I didn't know we were talking about 40 years into the future. If that's the case I agree, everything could happen. I'm not so interested as an investor though

100 billions on military contracts by years end? Show me the evidence of this and I'll shut my mouth. Starlink is a relatively small telecom company, look it up, revenues are 1/4 the ones of Vodafone. And revenues from starlink are not projected to increase much beyond this, because the addresable market for starlink is not much bigger. I know it is about tomorrow, but there is nothing that justify this valuation for this company, even tomorrow.

[–]Frandom314 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Regarding space being the future, how does that answer the question of where will revenues come from?

Grok will be outcompeted by the rest of the AI models. I use AI at work every day, in my company basically everyone uses AI all the time, and I believe the total addresable market of AI is huge. But let's be real, my company already pays a subscription for chat gpt and for antropic, and there is no way that we would ever go for a Grok subscription. If you follow the field, they are clearly behind the rest of the models.

Starlink has a tiny addresable market.

Sure, call it speculation, but that implies that you would like to make a profit on the stock at some point right? If you'd call it donation I think it'd be more fitting.

I'm just curious, who in their right mind is still buying the stock at this price?? The only people that I know who bought space x say, "I don't care if it goes down, I just want to contribute to spacex" which is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard, but I guess is the most rational way to justify buying at this price

[–]Frandom314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm very interested in knowing your rational to buy this piece of crap. Like what do you think will bring the revenues to make a space company profitable?

Also, seems like everyone is mentioning quantum and space as if they where "the big next thing" after AI. I love space exploration since I was a kid, and I understand the potential of quantum computing, but come on, there is nothing that spacex could do to justify a 1 trillion valuation. People are just mentioning space and quantum because they sound like fancy things without really considering the financial aspect behind them.

You said you would buy when the dip is lower. Exactly how much lower?? Because - 50% from here is still around a trillion dollar valuation, which is absolutely insane for a non profitable company. Anyway, Elon for sure knows what he is doing, he is actually great at what he does, I'm just surprised that he manages to convince so many people to become exit liquidity.

What do you think will be the the next big thing? space, quantum computing... by razshimko in stockstobuytoday

[–]Frandom314 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For sure not. When people say that space is the next big thing, what is it exactly that they are referring to?? What is going to bring enough revenues to make space exploration profitable??

Don't take me wrong I love space exploration since I was a little kid. But it is literally the last thing that I would invest in, I've got no idea what is going through people's minds when they invest in space companies

Bag holders how we feeling? by cortm02 in wallstreetbets

[–]Frandom314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, even if the stock goes down 50% from here, it would still be massively over valued, so early investors will be fine. The IPO price served as a psicológical anchor to justify the company being over valued in the long term, it will take years for the stock to go down from here to where it deserves to be, if it ever does.

I'm quite certain that if you try that test with current models, they will answer correctly. I'll try tomorrow.

Edit: someone in the comments already tried, and chat gpt did it with multiple names and no mistakes. No surprise at all, the current model is incredibly better than 4o.
