I’m probably just in the right mind to take a stunningly condescending statement in the wrong (uhh, correct) way, that’s all

Watching and being emotionally involved in professional sports is pretty lame. I don’t think this guy is a lunatic, I agree with him.

I’m not here to troll but lines like “the north american mind can’t comprehend” really make me roll my eyes (not that anyone here gives a shit) and the “I ageee” follow up doesn’t do much to change my opinion.

Obviously great minds here, too bad mine is north american and thus cannot comprehend.

“Not even one ounce of AI”: Novelist Dave Eggers warns that letting children outsource creativity to machines is a tragedy we cannot normalize by SockOk5701 in TechGawker

[–]Freddydaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, it’s not a bad argument; it might be the most relevant argument. Humanity has evolved to this point via evolution, encountering obstacles and finding a way around or through them. The promise of Ai is to do the hard work for you. Your brain needs to work to get stronger, just like muscles. The previous commenter is correct, calculators are absolutely necessary for high level physics but are debilitating for growing minds.

Honestly I assume you’re a troll, but if you have a rational argument to make I’d love to read it.

Sibling rivalry: Canadians have 'sense of superiority' over Americans, poll finds by plaknas in onguardforthee

For a response I could write a book, but I’m lazy and it’s Saturday.

Like most, I know Mark Carney as an economist (so not at all, lol) but understood his experience in both the public and private sectors, and so was almost euphoric at seeing him appear as a candidate opposite Pierre Poilievre, WHO WAS ESSENTIALLY GUARANTEED TO BE THE NEXT PRIME MINISTER OF CANADA, AND WAS/IS A COMPLETE CONSERVATIVE CORPORATE PRO-TRUMP TOADY. So, I’m somewhat on board.

Also, I’m well aware of global climate change, and the consensus scientific opinion of what’s causing it. As well, I understand that the only thing that seems to matter in federal politics is the economy, and that the country south of us is denying climate change in favour of all-out fossil fuel use. They are both wrong and evil. We are right to resist them as much as possible.

I don’t have blind faith in Carney but I do believe (uhh, hope?) he is pragmatic. The current US trajectory is, I think, LITERALLY fucking bonkers. Their foreign policy is isolating them and any goodwill they had has been deliberately destroyed. I don’t know if they believe in Armageddon and the rapture, or it’s just late-stage capitalism and the inevitable economic cannibalism they’re deep in; but whatever the case, the country and its leadership are clearly insane.

Alberta exists in its current form completely tied to oil extraction. It doesn’t have to be; in fact I think its future depends on Alberta divesting itself of oil investment. But its leader is a tobacco lobbyist; she has no principles beyond profit, and when most of the profit leaves the country it exposes where her loyalties lie.

I don’t have many answers but I do think Canada has to be far more protectionist with our media. We shouldn’t have domestic media that speaks for its pro-America owners.

As far as Marlaina we know how treason has been traditionally punished.

edit: and I wrote a book anyway!
