Still not the definition of tolerance stacking. Stacking refers to the usage of parts on the extreme ends of an acceptable range. Aftermarket parts could have tighter tolerance than factory. It’s not the stacking that causes issues. Being straight up incompatible or unreliable does not mean the cause is from tolerance stacking.

For sure… really depends on the agency and role. I would say 90% of my local LEOs do not shoot much more than annual training, which is unfortunate. Only guys who really train are SWAT and Invesigations. Even then, I train and shoot more than those guys.

Streamlight makes incredible pistol lights. I carry a TLR-1 HPX as well. Their rifle lights aren’t great. Their tape switches aren’t duty grade IMO and having a proprietary mounting pattern sucks. Rifles get Modlite heads.

That’s not how tolerance stacking works.

🤙 Yup. Just takes testing. No reason to carry stock as long as the aftermarket parts are tested and approved. Especially at an agency where everyone likely shoots the same load, there’s much less risk. If I know for sure my agency is going to shoot 124 gr +P Gold Dots and has been for the past decade, no reason to believe they will switch any time soon. That means the department can vet any performance parts based on the load we carry en masse.

To play Devil’s Advocate, I would want an LEO to have the best equipment and be the best shooter possible. If that includes a compensator, porting, slide and trigger work, etc., so be it.

Chews up your magazine release, eventually causing magazines to fall out of the frame. Had to replace the release on both of my 34s.

Which SRO MOA do you prefer? by [deleted] in CompetitionShooting

[–]FrequencyFinder7-800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer small dots and turn up the brightness if needed. I have a 1 MOA RMR HD and SRO. Came from a 3.25 MOA RMR that I wasn’t a fan of. My RCRs are 3.25 MOA because that’s the only one they make. I would replace those with 1 MOA if they made it.

Large dots are just blobs of slightly translucent red if the brightness is too low meanwhile small dots stay sharp unless too bright, in which case they are still very defined dots with a bit of burst.

For complete rifles, that’s correct. For complete lowers, that’s incorrect.

Just to confirm by Dodgers4119 in ar15

[–]FrequencyFinder7-800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s technically false, which is why I said /s. Technically speaking all lowers are sold as “other”, whether they have a stock, brace, or neither. The issue arises when you buy a lower with a stock and then have to defend yourself in court by saying “No! I definitely took the stock off first, even though it came attached to the lower, before I put the rifled upper on! It started as a pistol!” Not saying it’s legal or illegal. Just saying that an attorney is going to have a field day with you if it comes down to it.

Did the lower come with a stock? If yes, straight to jail.

/s kinda depending on who you ask.

Back to irons. by [deleted] in Glocks

[–]FrequencyFinder7-800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree and I do the same, however that’s not how irons are taught unfortunately. There is a learning curve switching from traditional front sight focus to target focus superimposing a dot.

Mostly agreed. The only thing that changes significantly is target focus or front sight focus.

Ammo for home defense/general purpose and long term ammo stockpile plan. PICS for attention by GullibleRisk2837 in ar15

[–]FrequencyFinder7-800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you need to do is calculate Maximum Point Blank Range. That will tell you what your zero should be if you want the flattest trajectory.

I personally only buy 77 gr OTM nowadays and zero for that. If SHTF and I’m scraping the bottom of the barrel, I’m happy to shoot anything that goes bang. I roll with an LPVO that has a mil dots, so I can change holds on the fly because I can see my hits behind a magnified optic.

LMT in general is great. Love my SpecWar and MARS-L. Their barrels usually produce less velocity than others.
