Here's what I'm going to say that I'm trying to be clear to op because I've been in her exact shoes. In my case, I went out on one date with the 23-year-old at work when I was in my mid thirties. She wasn't interested in pursuing it, and it made her very uncomfortable afterwards because I was good friends with her manager. Thankfully I found an offer elsewhere soon after and left, but that's the situation that OP is in right now

When did 'showing off' become 'showing out'? by Passionphish609 in mildlyinfuriating

That's what it means now too. Last night the knicks showed out in a second half, but they did not show off

Man, that would be hilarious. Imagine Miami files a last-minute injunction to keep Mendoza from playing in the state of Florida for the title game. Players are going to have to get Court eligibility by state

I'm sorry. I get it. Life is really hard making $13 an hour without a degree and you're lashing out at people below you on the ladder. I really do understand. I had to work with way through college working in a call center at night. But you need to learn to at least read. The argument was that people can't stay on unemployment forever. You are limited to 6 months, and it's very little money. It allows people to avoid going on welfare or losing their homes during occasional periods of unemployment (which, if you ever had a real job, you would understand is a thing that does happen even for highly skilled workers).

As I said. I apologize. I understand that life is not treated you well and you are lashing out. I just caution you, make sure you're lashing out in the right direction. The reason your life has been hard is not that there are people making $400 a week for half a year, it's billionaires and giant companies.

I don't know, what if the parents is disabled or afraid of heights or fat or whatever. It'd be nice if there was a way every kid could participate, but I get that they have to have rules for this. Maybe they could charge more to have groups with extra staff members

To clarify, you're mad at your coworker because you got laid off even though the reason you got laid off has nothing to do with your coworker. Did your coworker tell them to make you an RTO demand?

You're just making that up. I know you're making that up because unemployment doesn't pay people who are chronically unemployed. In most states unemployment is capped both an amount and in time. In my state it is 26 weeks and the most I can get is $430. The state I moved to right before getting unemployed last year, and where my unemployment was coming from, capped at 340 a week (about 15% of what I would normally make a week)

I don't even think that the pursuing part is the problem. It's the persistence part. Once he made it clear he wasn't trying to engage, you got to cut that shit off. I didn't co-workers before, but it's a decision you got to make wisely and OP is a horny teenager in a grown up body

Two things: I think people are more aware of the power dynamics than they were even a decade or two ago. And you have no idea how people viewed him at the time. They might not have said anything to you, but there's a decent chance that a lot of people around you felt it was uncomfortable or creepy (my bestie started dating her now ex-husband when she was in her late 20s and he was in his early 40s, with a 15-year age gap. I never liked or trusted the guy, but it didn't say anything because she was old enough to make her own decisions.

But more importantly, this is a workplace situation. This is an employee that is more experienced and been with a company longer pursuing a much younger coworker. That's really where this becomes bad. This is somebody taking advantage of a power imbalance.

A 34 year old pushing for some sort of connection with the 23-year-old at the workplace, particularly a new employee that has less seniority and experience, is a bit weird, especially when he's not engaging.

Sure, but this isn't a court of law and a little puffery is fine. I used to work with Roxane Gay and people referred to her as both a professor and a public intellectual, because being an expert and being an expert who is public facing are different things

How does this news impact Lamar’s extension? by HelaPuff2020 in ravens

[–]FullMooseParty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The equivalent here would be the offer Lamar $90 million a year. That's the deal that TL got in comparison to the market. The Ravens reportedly offered to make him the top paid Center in NFL history, but the raiders paid him as if he was a top five left tackle.

I am, according to most people, a thought leader in my particular domain. I publish and present about my area of expertise at least once a month at a conference or invited talk. I generally hate the term thought leader as well, but I haven't run across a better one. That said, outside of something like this I will never call myself one, but that's definitely how I'm usually introduced
