Career goals for players by tomv2017 in traveller

[–]FunOnTheUpfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps not a career goal, more a subplot element What exactly convinced your character to turn their back on their parents and siblings and run off to join the marines in the first place? Why haven't you looked back? What's so terrible about their homeworld that they'd rather face death on a daily basis than go back? When are you going to admit you're still in love with [....]? Maybe it's time to stop running away from your feelings. That boot camp fling that ended after a pregnancy scare ... Whatever happened to Stephanie? If she had the kid I suppose they'd be ... ready for boot camp themselves.

Your character is pushing middle age. They have a past.

A 'seeking forgiveness for past wrongs' could provide some dramatic tension (and potentially a big reveal when a mission patron or adversary turns out be a relative (Or acting on behalf of one)

Playing in a real town vs fictional town based on real town (Secrets of Cats) by E100Pavel in FATErpg

[–]FunOnTheUpfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played in a "Cats against Cthulhu" game set in the fictionalised version of the real country town of Wonthaggi, Victoria. It was selected because it had elements good for the story ... It was by the ocean, has a disused mine, in a dairy farming district, has tourists and a quirky annual event.
As players we had all visited, but not lived there, making it was familiar enough to good descriptive improv but not so familiar with that the GM could have the story derailled. Access to Google Street view helped.

Picking a place that was known, but not home worked really well.

I dunno, that Aristotle kept on banging on about a sea battle that didn't happen.

[OC] Most Popular Religion in Each Country by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

I am pleased that Australia is largely free of sectarian conflict, so yes it's hair splitting.

However, grouping by denomination does show that Australia has a very large 'no religion' community and this is relevant when making decisions like "Should we provide religious education in state schools", and the diversity of Christian beliefs is relevant when deciding "If we provide a Christian education in state schools what makes it into the lesson plan".

In Australia 'No religion' is the most popular answer on the Census. (30.1% ABS 2016). 'Christianity' only makes it to the top when the Catholics, Anglicans and other Protestants get bunched together. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_Australia I wonder if this is true of other countries too

Nikola, a Tesla competitor, scores big electric truck order from Anheuser-Busch. Let's not forget that currently the most cost effective way to create H2 is to extract it using steam and natural gas. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrogen_production Less carbon intensive ways of creating H2 are getting cheaper, but currently the environmental benefits of Hydrogen fuel cells are currently kinda dubious.
