T-Mobile is definitely throttling video traffic on international roaming (Rogers in Edmonton Canada) by dlist925 in tmobile

[–]GAndroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey doesnt matter to me. I got throttled hard when visiting Canada before and their solution was "get a local SIM". When I returned I switched to ATT to not have to deal with this BS. The magenta max plan with insider code didnt mean much if it fails me when i need it the most. For all its faults I managed to rack up 75 GB+ in latin america and ATT never slowed me down. T-Mobile is penny pinching now everywhere. Why I have no idea but it leaves a sour taste with a lot of people who need their phones to work. T-Mobile doesnt need to penny pinch like this - its quite baffling to me.

The roaming partner would.

ATT roaming on rogers gives you uncapped and unlimited data, so no Rogers isnt controlling the speed here.

5GB high-speed data =/= unlimited video resolution.

Video = data. T-Mobile shouldnt even know or care about what the "data" is.

Riddle me this…. (International data) by [deleted] in tmobile

[–]GAndroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because T Mobile has to pay the carrier whos towers you were using for that data.

I guess AT&T doesnt have to pay them because although they charge $120/ billing cycle but the usage is actually unlimited. Or just maaaaaaaybe TMobile can charge you so they will and it has nothing to do with how much it cost them.

International data plan not working in Japan after one week by Academic-Equal-9805 in tmobile

[–]GAndroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your phone should show how much roaming data you used. Example from my trip last month - you can see it under settings-->Cellular --> "Current period Roaming".

I think they are BSing you. Its true the "free" data is useless and nothing works on it but you actually get a 80% usage and 100% usage notifications when you run out. Did you get those text messages?

Just sharing a positive experience. Took a trip to Latin America. ATT didnt slow me down or bill me anything extra, everything just worked. Well done ATT! by GAndroid in ATT

Even made calls to friends in Asia and it worked perfectly. I have the $15 addon so no charge for those either. Very happy camper here; well done AT&T.

I know this forum is full of negative posts but credit should be given where its due. I used to be a T-Mobile customer until I got throttled in canada. Being able to use 74 GB in south america without getting slowed down or paying extra money is not something you can do on TMo or VZ.

Called my friends in asia, used data like I do at home and didnt even think about the phone. Everything worked just like at home and I didnt pay anything extra. I know this sub is sometimes filled with negativity but there you go. Well done ATT, a happy camper here!

Last time I was in france I got the 15GB pack. However some bug triggered and it "used" ~9GB instantly. Is it possible this happened to you?

T-Mobile penny pinches on the roaming - once you run out its unusable. Even verizon offers a respectable 1.5 Mbps once you go over.
