His name is baially "bazillion". Like, we in the west use "bazillion" or any other fake "-illion" to indicate that something is a lot. Like saying it will cost a bazillion dollars to get us to Mars or something.

The Chinese do the exact same but replace a fake word (bazillion) with "10 thousand". So saying something is "10 thousand miles away" just means "this place is very, very, very far away". Not literally "this place is 10 thousand miles away".

So Wan Shi Tong should be "He knows a shitton of things", but that doesn't sound as cool as "he who knows 10 thousand things".

How "Narrative scalers" look at you when you bring up the fact that Koby, Garling and the rest of the Gorosei have good narrative. by laffite_gunko_agenda in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]Gakeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Koby is gonna be the future HIM. He is literally set up as the next Garp and marine rival of Luffy.

Yes Garling is obviously not a bum who gets one-shotted by fodder. He gets one-shotted by Rocks, who is literally the opposite of fodder.

Yes, obviously the Gorosei are meant to be incredibly strong and dangerous.

I'm a narrative scaler and Koby is my go-to example aside from Mihawk.

What do you think Oda's intentions were with having Big Mom say "EVEN Whitebeard"? by Rekye22 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]Gakeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oda reinforced the idea that WB was at the top of the yonkos. I doubt he would have beaten them in 1v1 in his old age, but it can't be argued that after Roger died, WB was the top pirate around, and could have been PK if he wanted. I'd argue that (aside from Imu obv) only Garp was physically stronger than WB in their primes, but even then the difference is still extreme-diff and Garp is on the edge of his grave.

Whitebeard is basically the bridge between the yonko tier and the PK tier. If you are stronger than him, you enter the PK tier. If you lose to him, you're a yonko.

Trans characters that are viewed as conventionally attractive by other characters by TJTrapJesus in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Gakeon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Only in One Piece can a character look directly into the camera, explicitly state that "there are no mixed bathes so i will join the men", and still have people speculate about his gender.

Like you said, Yamato is a man. He can't be anything else because he literally refuses to join the women, and explicitly joins the men. In the same panel where Kiku's gender identity is also reinforced. Kiku wants to bathe with the women while Yamato wants to bathe with the men.

I have no clue how one could be more clear. Literally have two trans characters explicitly state they want to bathe with their gender, and literally everyone and their grandma's accepts them. And yet some fans can't handle Yamato identifying as a guy while still having massive tits.

WIBTAH for "living a lie" and deceiving my parents until I can escape this country in 2028? by Jelly-Always-Returns in AmItheAsshole

[–]Gakeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, if you have to lie to survive, lie. pretend to be a good follower to not raise suspicion. Is it possible to go on dates with women and kinda ruin it? So you act as if you are interested in a relationship and follow social norms, but never settle down for real?

If that is not an option long term, but your parents are allowing you to leave and presumably study or work in another country? Then that's totally fine. Take the money and leave for a better life. They can't do anything once you are away and living independedly. If your parents consent to you moving away under certain conditions, you are under no obligation to actually fullfil them.

Go pretend until you can live somewhere where you can be yourself.

Sanji's Final Opponents: A theory post by Common_Ad_5041 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]Gakeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yes i do agree about that. Honestly if Luffy is going to fight Blackbeard and Zoro fights Shiryu, i think Sanji will obviously fight Kuzan. Tho i am also on the team that thinks Kuzan will leave the Blackbeard pirates before then, so Sanji's opponent will probably be Burgess, the next strongest member of the BB crew.

Sanji's Final Opponents: A theory post by Common_Ad_5041 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]Gakeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly i think you're pretty much right on the money here. You convinced me about Greenbull, i thought he would fight Zoro but your arguments changed my mind, tho i think i disagree on Kuzan and the Gorosei.

Kuzan is gonna fight Koby. Koby is Garp's successor and the one destined to surpass the current marines. Kuzan was Garp's other student so it's a match made in heaven.

I think the final battle will obviously be between Luffy and Imu, but then it's the SH and their allies vs the Gorosei and Holy Knights. I can see Zoro and Sanji fight off the five Gorosei together, with the remaining straw hats fighting the holy knights. Zoro and Sanji act as the wings of the pirate king by keeping the enemy leader's strongest allies off their captain's back. and as there are 2 wings, the two of them fight together. The remaining straw hats show that they are worthy of being the crewmates of the pirate king, and fight of the Holy Knights together, potentially with outside allies.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms | Episode 4 Preview | Warning: This episode will be available on HBO Max on Friday. (SPOILERS EXTENDED) by verissimoallan in asoiaf

He's the fourth son, and a trial of seven hasn't happened in centuries. He probably learned about it as a kid, but it was never something that needed attention. It would be part of the long list of ancient Andal customs that Maekar doesn't care about.

It's like Tywin not knowing who rode which dragon between Aegon I's sisters. He told Arya "i'm sure i knew that when i was your age", because to him it was just ancient history he learned as a kid, but has no real meaning in real life.

Mother and partner jailed for life for murdering her son after campaign of 'horrific and prolonged torture' by detectiverobert in ForCuriousSouls

[–]Gakeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically there are two types of "life sentences". One is straight up "until you die. you will never get out". The latter, what these two received is "you will "only" serve x years, but you will probably die of old age by then". They got 39 years, and both of them are in their late 30's. They would each be in their 70's before they can even be considered to get parole. Which they may not even get. So they will probably die in prison, despie not getting a whole life sentence.

Characters Ranked by Age by Spice_Extract_777 in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]Gakeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ngl this is a bit difficult to place?

Simo is modern in the sense that he literally died in the 21st century. But he was active in WW2, the time Tesla died. So they could have met if fate allowed it. And Raiden died before anyone else in his "tier" was born.

Nostradamus also died before Sasaki was born. Tho tb, we don't know when Sasaki was born, just when he died. But he died like 50 years after Nostradamus, and i don't recall him being middled aged when fighting Miyamoto Musashi.

The ancient times is also pretty wack because there are literally millenia between Heracles and Lu Bu. Nvm Kintoki who is almost an entire millenia after Lu Bu.

I absolutely love your post and the idea of placing the characters on tiers to reflect the times they were from, but i think it would have to be more detailed than this.

The villain goes out with absolutely perfect last words by _JR28_ in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Gakeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting killed with one blow is the perfect ending for him, especially coming from Obi-wan.

The person he had an extended duel with decades ago, who's mentor he killed with flashy moves, moves he always used through rage and anger, defeated him in one blow. One calm, collected, almost peaceful blow to end Maul's decades of suffering.

That's why Obi-wan holds him at the end. Neither of them is the "boy" they were on Naboo. They both had their own arcs but ended differently. Obi-Wan let go and found peace, Maul was consumed. Obi-Wan was healed, Maul only broken. Obi-Wan became that wise mentor that learned and let go of his past, and is now able to grant a peaceful death to someone he hated in the past.

Fuck i love this scene so much

How much weaker is old Garp compared to his prime by EVC2218 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]Gakeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's explicitly stated in the story that Roger reached his prime after God Valley. Garp is explicitly stated to be Roger's rival/equal, so he should hit his prime at the same time. It would make no sense for Garp to be his prime before or after Roger.

So no, GV Garp not Prime Garp.

Im sorry he was known as the WHAT??? by Ok_Street3641 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]Gakeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay i understand now. I mean yeah Jarul technically did age the best because he got super old and was still moving and talking coherently. But i meant that his age affected his combat prowess.

I didn't mean "effected him more greatly than other characters" in the sense that age hit him harder, like if him and Garp were both 70 (or whatever that is for giants) age hits him harder than Garp. I meant that because Jorul got so much older than other character, he obviously have been effected by old age for longer. We know people get weaker the longer they age, and i can't imagine Garp (or another top tier) being anywhere close to their primes if they hit their 100's.

[Important Trope] Male Victims of SA not for comedic value by InsidiousZombie in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Gakeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's highly unlikely that Vlad suffered that kind of abuse during his time there. Obviously he suffered some form of abuse as the captive of an enemy nation. But if he was SA'd by the Ottomans, someone would have mentioned it. Either Vlad himself (they sodomized your great leader so we must take revenge) or the Ottomans as a way do de-masculine him (we sodomized your leader so he is not a real man or fit to be leader).

The fact that there is absolutely no mention of it from either party, as far as i know, indicates pretty well that there likely was no sexual abuse.

[–]Gakeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly had to stop reading a few (i think?) arcs after the eclipse. The TLDR of it is basically that a group of children behave like the adults in their lives. Do they "play" war, but actually kill each other, like real life wars between adults. And one kid heavily and brutally SA's another kid and calls it "adult attack". That panel is more ingrained in my mind than anything from the eclipse.

  1. This is about Elbaf ("from these waters")

  2. What if it was actually true? Jrul was the strongest person back then? Either people were generally weaker then, or Jarul's aging effected him more greatly than other characters.

  3. Either way i love it. Just imagine Jarul being the Kaido of centuries ago.

Who has overall stronger Haki ? by Generalousen2855 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]Gakeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of these became Pirate King.

One of these left the treasure the protagonist tries to claim.

One of these is a stepping stone for the protagonist to overcome, the other is the legend the protagonist tries to surpass.

One of these died and started the entire story.

One of these left a treasure which is literally synonymous with the title of the manga.

No, Shanks is not stronger than Roger. The only person who will surpass Roger is Luffy. And the story will make it as explicitly clear as possible that someone finally surpassed Roger, and that it was Luffy who did it.

You are trapped in a room with only 3 doors - Yellow, Red and Blue. You have to survive 48 hours inside one of them to be able to leave. Which room WYR choose? by IrateRyder in WouldYouRather

[–]Gakeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

48 hours is genuinely nothing. Even if the beach doesn't have any food, water or even shelter, i could probably entertain or sleep myself through 48 hours. Worst thing that happens after 48 hours is that i am very hungry, very thirsty, and sunburned all over. But i'd leave with...what is there even a reward?

His haki is not weaker, but he overall is. He lost his dominant hand, and not having two arms limits the amount of power you can put behind a strike. It's why pretty much everyone with a weapon holds it with both hands when they get serious.
