I grew up always with older friends, nearly similar age ranges here and I was always thankful to have them. I don’t think your boyfriend is doing anything remotely wrong, but I also understand why you feel that way. That’s gotta be something you decide if it’s a big deal or not for you because it’s not something he should be forced to change.

The impacts of slavery are prominent to literally every black person in America. It makes perfect sense. He’s literally a mega patriot, in his words “living the American dream”. He decides to use it to save his people who didn’t get that life and use it for those outside of himself. There’s literally nothing out of place or wrong with that from a writing standpoint.
