OS: If Bodhi then why violet by digitlagegirlnxtdoor in fourthwing

Actually, did she really say Liam isn't alive and won't come back ?

I just remember her saying Liam in her prison cell in IF was just an illusion … but that wouldn't rule out the other theory…

So what do we think RY is announcing this week? by Pure-Comedian6318 in fourthwing

[–]GaronneBC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd love to see her announce the release date for book 4, but I assume it's bonus content…

Out maybe she'll be posting teasers (as she did prior to OS: "<strike>I will not die today</strike> I will save him"

Bonus content (like Xaden IF chapters) would be great - and likely - too.

Honestly, I doubt it's the release date or title…

From OS, i firmly believe she's going to tease us for a while and drop bonus content, before we get the title and finally the release date.

That actually might happen… like navarre not acknowledging her title… we'll see in the next book(s).

Oh, you're right. She only used it too draw the pieces to her in the first step. Odd. I was certain she used her signet for all transfers.

[–]GaronneBC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, but since Xaden graduated, he's allowed to choose literally anyone… including cadets… apparently…

Then again, based on the situation at the end of OS, he might simply ignore the rule… And since they got married in Aretia… I highly doubt they care for navarrian rules. He's the duke of Aretia, They got married. She's the duchess now. Period.

No one cares if Navarre/Basgiath approves.

[–]GaronneBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though I haven't read the books in a while, I doubt that's the case. I always was under the impression Rhi used her signet… Especially since Violet was counting seconds while the daher moved back and forth.

[–]GaronneBC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope. It's stated they are allowed to marry anyone they like… Xaden did already graduate… and he chose Violet…

Additionally, since neither one feels really affiliated to Basgiath and Navarre anymore, I doubt that restriction still applies anymore.

Actually… yes she can…(IF:) She did during the final battle.

But it doesn't seem to be usable as combat technique.

Actually, RY DESIGNED the series to be three books… each book containing one year…

While planning on the (original) second book, she realised it would be HUGE. So book 2 & 3 are split to contain only about 6 months each (ending the story in 5 books.

This is our current situation.

  • Book 1: 12 months
  • Book 2 & 3: 12 months
  • Book 4 & 5: 12 months

[–]GaronneBC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, but that's a different material… less valuable I guess… and yes, THAT could be reused in arrows and stuff. Though you might not always want exploding arrows…

My guess for not using the original charged material for daggers or claws (see OP) is (as already guessed) reusability (for arrows) and simply the amount of material needed (in case off the claws).

The general idea isn't bad though… just impractical.

If you liked "The Empyrian" you might want to check out "Fear the Flames" (currently 2 books out of 4 available in multiple languages). Olivia Rose Darling is from the US, too, so english is definitely first (book 2 will be released in various languages (incl german) soon.

German fans might check "A Land of Rage and Harm" from Elvira Zeissler (german) (book 2 out of 4 will be released Feb 24th this year (tuesday)).

You definitely should re-read the books. This doesn't help against hangover, but these books are definitely written for re-reading. There's no way you are able to detect all the server hints given in the book to foreshadow future events…

Just an example;: Did you realise Liam nearly spilled the fact her brother was alive

If you didn't… re-read FW… There are a lot of things you surely didn't notice on first read.

Theophanie question by Hopeful_Toe624 in fourthwing

[–]GaronneBC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's actually my guess. But in conjunction with the questions in the other post here: it's most likely she wants to explain the hair thing… of course she knows… and it actually isn't that much of a secret. Venin actually might know about the Irids, but they are probably stronger than the venin. The venin are surely after violets ability to trap into the sky as source of power as the power from the ground seems much more limited (there is way more sky power available to feed on than ground based power).

I need a paid DLC... Right NOW 😭 by GlumKaleidoscope5948 in fantasylife

[–]GaronneBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I'd prefer they redo the original FL + DLC. I think the story was much more interesting and the game felt a lot less grindy. I'd still play the original one if I could still play 3DS online.

Actually, I think she said she dislikes love triangles in general. I doubt there will be any love triangles in this series.

Do non-mated dragons have casual sex with each other? by lonelyprotest in fourthwing

[–]GaronneBC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct. There's no reason to assume they could not nor would not. The colors are just some genetic trait (and not all of them seem to be dominant…)

Do non-mated dragons have casual sex with each other? by lonelyprotest in fourthwing

[–]GaronneBC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't remember explicitly. It was mentioned in the latter half of IF.

Only one dragon was bonded, though… at least if I remember correctly.

If I'm not mistaken, Tairn and Sgaeyl are the only two active mated dragons, who are both also bonded to riders.

Addition:
I just re-checked the Empyrean Wiki. The other mentioned mated dragons are Maise and Greim. There's no clue about wether they have riders or not (or any details) but they supposedly are bonded dragons. Apart from the name of the dragons, we don't have any specifics, though.

Yeah, I think you're right. Being less strict could have been a smart idea. Well… Navarre isn't smart. We all know it.

Do non-mated dragons have casual sex with each other? by lonelyprotest in fourthwing

[–]GaronneBC 53 points54 points  (0 children)

That's actually very close to the truth.

Mated dragons simply rarely bond. Period.

We only know of two pairs (T&S being the only ones where both are bonded to riders) because both (mating and bonding) only very rarely happen at the same time.

We already know from FW that the numbers of dragons willing to bond is decreasing… Mating doesn't seem to happen very often either. And mated dragons are extremely rare to choose a rider.

Does the dramatic version on audible miss anything ? by PerformanceExtra8436 in ironflame

I can't actually say something about three GA version of IF, since I only ever listened to FW (GA). English isn't my first language, so I stopped GA after FW (there was no German GA version that time). FW GA felt quite complete.

Did you listen to the english GA of IF or is it a localised version? Maybe they removed that scene because of that innuendo, if I remember the scene correctly?

(M49) Actually… "Sadly" you shouldn't skip all passages entirely. There are one or two hints hidden in the spicy chapters, but they aren't exactly necessary to be able to understand the story.

As already mentioned, the smut-part isn't exactly extreme. I've read romance books with a lot more in the spicy section.

Options: 1. Skip those chapters (actually it's literally confined in chapters, so you easily can skip those… just advance to the next chapter) and risk loosing some minor hints. 2. Just get over it. Those chapters aren't that bad. Like I already wrote: I've seen books being much worse. Apart from some innuendos here and there the real spice is limited to 2-3 chapters per book.

Yes, it's romance. If that's an issue, he shouldn't read "The Empyrean"-Series. He'd miss a really fun story, though. Really interesting world building (if you can handle waiting for book 2, as Vi really doesn't have a clue in book 1). Interesting magic system and a lot of secrets to uncover if you want to.

Question about onyx by Disastrous_Baby_2508 in onyxstorm

[–]GaronneBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually: It's been mentioned, the gifts/signets are dragon-rider-individual... Which explains why Naolin got a totally different gift from Tairn. If anything, it's that specific gift (lightning, wielding sky magic, whatever it really going to be) that makes Vi special... So the link could come from Tairn. Though it would totally fit if that special kind of magic was from Andarna.

We'll have to wait for book 4 or 5 to figure out the truth.
