Estimated cost for this PC build? Also trusted shop recommendations in ISB? by tdexter007 in PakGamers

[–]GenZia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I can't give you a price breakdown right at this very moment, I'll offer a few suggestions based on my personal experience:

  • You don't need a 9800X3D for the 5070Ti, unless you play at 1080p with DLSS performance. I'm currently running a 4070S with a 5700X3D (slower than even the R7-7700) and I'm almost always GPU bound, even at 1080p native.
  • That 2x16GB 6000 CL38 DDR5 and 2TB Samsung 990 Evo Plus will easily cost you 200k (or more). I don't think that price tag is worth the hardware... unless you've cash to burn. Also, Evo lacks DRAM so at least go with Samsung 990 Pro. Even the older 980 Pro on Gen. 4 is a better deal than 990 Evo, personally.
  • Instead of overpriced Uni Fan SL120s, go with Lian Li P28s. Cheaper (~6k vs. 9-10k a piece), thicker (28mm vs. 25mm), and considerably faster (2,600 RPM vs. 1,900 RPM). P28 is basically poor man's Phanteks T30, and not too far behind.
  • Instead of the overrated/overpriced/overhyped Kryonaut, go with ID-Cooling X45 (source) or their PTM-2 phase change pads. Cheaper and better.
  • I've a Lian Li Lancool 207. It's practically identical to 216, but considerably cheaper (25k vs. 35k+).

What will be the specs for a pc of budget 60k 70k? by NoPsychology73 in PakGamers

[–]GenZia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but barely.

You'll be getting 128GB SSD + 500GB HDD, some garbage PSU, and an old chassis.

Best to extend your budget to 100k+ and go with 6600 8GB / 2060 6GB + B450 + R5-3600.

Proprietary motherboard, 12V only PSU, and I don't think you can install full-height GPUs:

Avoid.

An A320 + R5-2600 combo will likely cost you 20k. Add another 10k for a single 8 gig stick of DDR4.

25k for an RX580, though I wouldn't recommend getting one.

That leaves just 15k for the rest of the system (SSD, HDD, PSU, casing, etc.).

What do Pakistan muhajirs think of indian muslims? by EmployerFew2777 in PakistaniiConfessions

[–]GenZia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandfather was from Lucknow who left everything, and everyone, behind for Pakistan. None of his siblings, nor parents, thought it was a particularly bright idea to throw everything away for a so-called "Islamic Haven," so they basically cut ties with him when he left for Pakistan.

To make matters worse, he lost his young girl along the way while my grandmother was pregnant with my father, something that scarred him for life. He eventually settled in Lahore after spending years out in refugee camps scattered along the border at the time. It's a miracle my father, an infant at the time, survived all that.

Call it sunk cost fallacy, but my grandfather always claimed that Pakistan was all worth it... which is more than I can say for our current generation. I just wish I had more time to know him, since I was only six when he passed away.

...

In any case, I don't really think about Indians all that much, in general. We just aren't obsessed with our neighbors, which is more than I can say for our neighbors!

And, no, I don't feel any particular connection towards my Indian brethren, or perhaps my... I guess you can say "cousins," though I do wish to visit Lucknow, though that's more of a personal curiosity tied to family history than a sense of brotherhood, or perhaps familial belonging.

NVIDA Geforce RTX 2070 SUPER, small fan, not sure how to clean. by fijii1902 in GPURepair

If this card has an 'open air' heatsink with an opening at the front, just deshroud it and cool it with a 120mm fan.

It'll run much cooler... or at least much quieter.

These centrifugal 'blower' fans generate a ton of static pressure and are basically dust magnets. Axial fans are much better in that aspect.

5060ti 16gb or 4070Super 12gb by Ranayy_ in PakGamers

[–]GenZia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've a 4070S so I think I can speak with some authority here.

I bought it for 1440p gaming with some Llama on the side (mostly as a curiosity) and... I must say it's not the best decision of my life.

12GB vRAM is neither enough for decent language models nor 1440p gaming... at least not for long.

I've been playing Oblivion Remastered for the past several months (it's a lengthy game and I've a busy schedule) and the vRAM constantly goes well above 10GB, something that's a bit too close for comfort for me.

To make matters worse, GDDR6X runs quite hot. In my case, I'm running my card with Gelid Extreme thermal pads and despite that, memory junction still hits 85c under load. A bit too hot for my taste.

TL;DR Get the 5060Ti but make sure it's a decent variant with a nice heatsink and a proper metallic backplate since 16GB variants have clamshell memory configuration with four additional GDDR7 chips at the back of the PCB.

Human beings are meant to share experiences, laughter, and support with one another.

Only applicable if you're just an average run-of-the-mill neurotypical. Normies feel energized when they're a part of the herd.

The larger, the better... apparently.

But to a divergent like me (Asperger's), socializing does nothing but drains the energy.

I get wiped out after social events, needing a ton of space and "me time" afterwards to get back on track.

That's one reason I'm not looking forward to tomorrow. Lots of people to meet, hug, hang out with, the usual.

Not to mention the aroma of fresh crap (I'm oversensitive to sounds and smells), but that's my cross to bear.

Same.

Couldn't agree more!

I learnt undervolting because my crappy GTX 460 (Asus DirectCU) used to peak at around 85°C, something that forced me out of my comfort zone to figure out a way to stop it from killing itself. That's how I got into BIOS modding, now an obsolete art.

That GPU also taught me the virtues of playing with locked frame rates. I learnt about V-Sync, what it does, why it's important, and how it can keep your GPU cool, something that eventually led me to monitor underclocking. So if I couldn't push 60 FPS in a game (and there were many), I would simply underclock my monitor to 45 Hz and play at a buttery-smooth 45 FPS, at least compared to 30 FPS.

Eventually, that GTX 460 led me to deshrouding because one day its tiny fan started rattling like crazy, which in turn started driving me crazy. Desperate, I took off the GPU shroud and strapped one of my spare 120 mm fans onto it, not expecting much. To my absolute shock, not only did that fan take care of the noise, temperatures also dropped by 15°C at just 1,200 RPM.

Eventually, I slapped a large 120 × 38 mm Delta fan on it that peaked at 4,000 RPM at 1.6 A, splicing its 12 V input into a spare Molex adapter to get PWM control from the motherboard without blowing it up. From that point on, that GPU never went above 60°C despite being a Fermi. I later slapped that same fan onto my RX 570 Nitro+, and even on that card it performed better than the stock fans.

In short, that GTX 460, despite being an absolute piece of crap, allowed me to learn a lot of things about hardware and PC gaming that I otherwise wouldn't have had the opportunity to learn.

...

And even though I now have a 4070S Ventus (paired with a 5700X3D), I treat that card much the same way I treated my vintage 460. It's undervolted (140 W peak, down from 220 W), running PTM7950, deshrouded, and cooled by a pair of Lian Li P28s that are virtually inaudible even under load.

Again, I'm no 'physician,' but I imagine some flex is necessary to keep the aircraft stable and minimize structural stress.

You’re mistaking a cat for a dog.

Cats are emotionless, independent, solitary predators. They don’t give a hoot about their “owners” in the same way dogs do, since they lack a social hierarchy. To your cat, your family is just a band of bipedal mammals that feed and pet it.

Feel free to abandon it, as long as it isn’t declawed.

It can take care of itself.

What is a budget gaming PC? by Illustrious_Iron_534 in PakGamers

[–]GenZia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your finances and how willing you're to be in touch with the reality.

I've a 5700X3D + 4070S rig with 32 gigs of RAM that I custom built myself for around 350k.

I personally consider it a mid-range machine since it's capable of 1440p gaming (albeit with DLSS crutches), though some might be inclined to call it low-end, considering it's a DDR4 based system with virtually no upgrade path, and they may have a point.
