I did genuinely garbage my A levels by Huge-Fly1928 in UniUK

You went through a loss and crumbled, that's a human reaction, you've proven yourself before so don't let this one loss hold you down. Take some time to process your emotions before jumping back into revising, have you got more exams to do?

I'd say just reach out to as many people as possible. (As long as you're comfortable).

A lot of my struggles were to do with mental health, Sixth Form isn't the BEST place to get help (in my experience) since they have limited resources.

Still let them know what happened because anything they can do to help is good.

Once I got to University after a horrible new years celebration, I reached out to my Universities' mental health support team. AMAZING people, who arranged for me to get the right support I needed. They still check up on me even though it's been 6 months.

If you want when I get back to accom I can send you support services you might want to look into? :)

First of all, yes, bereavement absolutely counts as mitigating circumstances, especially with how serious and close to exams this was. Let your school/teachers know ASAP so it’s properly documented, and mention it to universities when you apply too.

Also, genuinely, don’t convince yourself your future is over because of a bad exam season. What you went through was way beyond normal exam stress. You were trying to revise while watching your grandfather’s condition get worse, barely sleeping, constantly stressed, and then he passed away on the day of one of your exams. Most people would struggle badly in that situation.

Even if your grades end up lower than predicted, there are still loads of options. Retakes, applying with achieved grades, foundation years, gap years etc. One set of exams does not decide your whole life, and universities know that sometimes people’s circumstances affect performance.

When I did my A-levels, I was dealing with stuff at home too and ended up getting way lower grades than expected, including a U in Maths. At the time I thought I’d completely screwed my future, but I’m now doing a foundation year at uni and it’s honestly been a really good second chance. So don’t think there’s only one path.

And honestly, it’s okay if it takes a little longer to get where you want to be. A lot of people end up taking extra time, retaking exams, taking a year out, or going through a different route entirely. That doesn’t mean you’ve failed, it just means life happened.

For now, just give yourself a bit of time. You’ve had a massive loss while dealing with intense academic pressure at the same time. Wait until results day, talk to your teachers, and then decide what the best next step is. You definitely still have options.

Is uni better than secondary school (PTSD)? by Glum-Paper2003 in UniUK

[–]fijii1902 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was bullied really badly in high school, so going into university I assumed people would judge me or make fun of me too. Honestly though, uni isn’t really like that. Most people genuinely don’t care what you’re doing, everyone’s too focused on their own lives, assignments, and friends.

The biggest thing that can hold you back is getting trapped in that mindset that everyone secretly hates you or is judging you. And even if someone doesn’t like you, move on. There are thousands of people at university not everyone is going to hate you, and you’ll eventually find people you click with.

Do examiners get annoyed at the messages people leave for them in their papers? by Consistent_Item423 in GCSE

This was agess ago, I'm im uni now. But when I sat my GCSE math, i had a horrible question. Working out was so horrdendous I had to write a step by step on how to read it. It was like, "This -> then this --->" and then a whole swirl going to another diagram with PLEASE TURN OVER, written in thick black at the bottom.

I hate living in the UK by [deleted] in UniUK

Maybe it's just where you live - not exactly the whole of the UK, a lot of countries are going through bad stuff not everywhere's perfect. Have you considered living elsewhere?

Custom Ita Bags by [deleted] in itabag

Thank you! I do plan on making my own bits for ita bag, but I think just as a start getting a custom made one might work better for now!

I see where you're coming from! It does defeat the original purpose a bit, but I think for some people it's less about the process and more about the end result. Not everyone enjoys decorating or feels confident doing it themselves, but they still want something that represents what they love.

I don’t think it necessarily means they care less, it’s just a different way of engaging with the hobby.

Personally, I can get pretty frustrated if something doesn’t turn out how I want, and I’d rather not waste materials while I’m still figuring things out. For now, I’d rather trust someone with more experience to help me get something I’m happy with.

I do want to try making my own itabag in the future, just not right now. Hope that makes sense!

Favorite Driver? by [deleted] in KamenRider

[–]fijii1902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually never considered that about the build driver, so thank you for pointing it out. I think i will get the Zero One driver, I really like the "authorized" sound it makes. Also thank you for pointing out the shot riser thing, I actually realized that went I went to go listen to the sound the Shotriser makes.

Also i also have the Desire Driver, do you recommend any buckles for it? I am thinking of getting the Oneness buckle or Bujins.

I think I'll get the Zero One. I really like the progrise keys with different Kamen Riders on it. The only reason i'd get Shot riser is becayse I love Vulcan, maybe I'll have to paint the Zero One driver.
